Hey all, (will probably redact this later for anonymity)

Stats are as said, 3.5 c/sGPA and 523 MCAT balanced. ORM. Planning to apply next cycle. Should Top20s be a part of my application? What general schools should I target due to asymmetric stats?

GPA trend is super upward, from a 2.39 (1st semester) to 3.9/4.0 every since beginning of junior year. (2 year upward trend)

Special notes:
1. Did badly on many prereqs (like 6 Cs in hardcore science classes :( This was before I wanted to be a doctor, just wanted to get my major stuff out of the way)

2. Took like 40-50 units of online classes at a CC close to home to boost GPA from Uni from 3.26 to 3.5. Mind you I kept up a 4.0 in almost all my upper div sciences + remaining prereqs (at local UNI) junior/senior year - while CONCURRENTLY doing CC online classes meant to boost my GPA. (This is like 30 unit courseloads per semester)

I wanted to take above the 20 unit max my Uni offered bc I knew CC classes (esp. online CC classes) would appear bad, but I couldn't even appeal the limit because my GPA (at the time) was too low.

3. Have a story of sorts. Struggled with mental health issues and nearly attempted suicide that I weaved into my P.S, but not sure how many ppl will care about it.

LizzyM/Wedgedawg's scales put me at 74 and 90 respectively, but because of my poor pre-req performance, lots of online CC classes - I feel nervous, actually been feeling nervous for two years.

Will any MD school look at my strong performance in Uni (NOT CC) and not question the 3.5/523 combo? What schools should I aim for?

Make sure the schools you apply to will accept the online coursework.

How are your ECs?

I suggest:
WashU (yes, WashU)
NYU
Mayo
Pitt
Columbia
UCSF
Duke
Your state schools
BU
Case
Hofstra
Dartmouth
U Miami
Tufts
Netter
SLU
Tulane
Wake
The Philly Triplets
Wayne State
Rosy F
Creighton
Rush
Loyola
NYMC
Albany
EVMS
Any DO school if you get no love by T-giving.
I can't recommend Touro-NY, Nova, Wm Carey, LUCOM, for different reasons. MSUCOM? Read up on Larry Nasser and you decide.

Online coursework isn't prereqs, and all of them are UC transferable so I'm assuming most med schools would be okay with random science electives.

ECs are quite strong, 500+ hours clinical, 500+ research w/multiple pubs,1000+ nonclinical, founded a non-profit, etc. - hence the WARS score of 90 lol.

Am I seriously being considered for T20s despite the online coursework and poor prereq performance!!?? Goro you have made my day.
And you're not being kind to me, are you? :D @Goro is a beast!!

It's your stellar ECs and MCAT, plus the upward trend, that mean that your low GPA can be forgiven. The suicide attempt always gives adcoms pause...but you've written about it in your PS, you *have* taken a fairly stressful undergrad courseload, and you presumably have a decent narrative going. Best of luck.
