Hey guys! Just got my MCAT back today and looking for some help with my school list:
  • 3.78 sGPA, 3.71 cGPA, 507 MCAT (505-509); Michigan Resident
  • College jobs: Factory worker, Respite care provider for people with disabilities, and this summer working as a Kayak Guide at a National Park
  • Volunteering: Hospital (Emergency Room) ~60 hours, Students Today Leaders Forever service trip, Assistant Facilitator for a non-profit that works with adults on the Autistic Spectrum, volunteered with American Red Cross at the Flint, Michigan water crisis (really eye opening experience)
  • Research: Fidelity Observer for "Healthy Growing Study", Worked in the Wheat Breeding and Genetics Lab for a semester, and spent a year working in a Physiology Lab studying the role of certain Protein Kinases in mammalian signal transduction and cancer
  • Also studied abroad in New Zealand. Got to do some awesome hikes while simultaneously lecturing about the public health implications of climate change.
  • Letters from two MD's, DO, and two science professors I know very well.
Is my MCAT too low to apply MD? I love DO philosophy and have an interest in Primary Care, so I'm completely open to it. Here is my school list so far:
DO:
MSUCOM
WVCOM
WesternU (Both)
Rocky Vista Univ (both)
NYIT
AT SOMA
MD:
MSUCHM
Wayne State
NYMC
Oregon University of Health Sciences
George Washington
USC
Cal-Northstate
Tulane
UCLA Charles Drew (I have strong interest in working with underserved areas)
Rosalind Franklin
Medical College of Wisconsin
Wake Forest
East Virginia
Quinnipiac
Drexel
Rush
Tufts
Temple
Really interested in living somewhere out west, but open to anything really.
Should I add some DO schools or remove (or Add) any MD's? I really need help with my school list!

You can remove Oregon since you are not a resident of that state. Also delete Tufts, USC and UCLA since your MCAT is too low. For MD schools you should add Central Michigan, Oakland Beaumont and Western Michigan. Other schools to consider include:
Jefferson
Vermont
Creighton
Roseman (new school accepting applications sometime this year)
You are competitive for any DO school so add any others that interest you.

I really appreciate the response! One more question, how many DO schools should I apply to?

So it looks like I'll be sending out my primary app with this list
