I am wondering how the HPSP would work if a student attended the three year program at U of Pacific. Don't HPSP students have to do some type of 45 day service program each year? So if U of Pacific is basically year round with out a regular summer break it wouldn't be practical for a HPSP student correct?

HPSP students have to do a 45 day active duty tour (AT) every year usually in the summer. Normally, you use them to go to officer training, do a clerkship at a military facility, or do research. If the dental school doesn't allow enough time off, the student will be placed on school orders for their AT. They will receive active duty pay for 45 days, and they just go to school like any other day. They don't have to wear a uniform for school orders, but are not allowed to leave the local area of the school during the AT. If a University of the Pacific student is on HPSP, they will probably be on school orders for all of their ATs and will simply have to go to officer training immediately following graduation. This is a normal occurrence for many dental HPSP students.
