Hey guys,
I'm not sure if someone's posted this already, but check out this article if you're interested:
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2010/05/28/2010-05-28_widow_wants_3m_for_kidney_death.html
Thoughts? I'm a bit irked by the quote from the lawyer, which almost seems to paint the surgeon as some kind of evil practitioner with the intent of killing the patient. I think the surgeon's defense is perfectly reasonable; the patient was informed of the present cancer and could have gotten it removed but chose not to. However, it probably would have been smart on the surgeon's part to have kept some kind of documentation of the agreement....
Anyway, here's a prime example of patient autonomy for you... 😕
