Hello,

Syllabus for my 2nd year Organ Systems class recommends strongly outside resources to do well on the NBME's we are being assessed on throughout the year after each organ system. Not a huge anki guy, but I would try it for this (unsuspend the specific section I'm learning?). Also, Boards and Beyond, I've heard of? How does this work, aren't these just questions? Any other advice?

Boards and Beyond is a platform with short lectures that cover pretty much all the information you need to know for boards. Each lecture has a few questions that you can do after to gauge your understanding. Its a fantastic resource for most subjects. If you want to do Anki along with the lectures then you’ll want The LightYear Anki deck.

Other beloved resources are Sketchy (for micro and pharm), pathoma (for pathology), and UWorld for a question bank.

Yes to what was said above but i think Pathoma is extremely valuable and doesn't take much extra time. He speaks only high yield. Amboss q bank is decent too (kinda hard tho)

Thanks for the info guys. If I stuck with the LY deck (unsuspending relevant organ blocks) + pathoma + my class lectures, is this enough? Using UWorld as I get closer to Step/dedicated. Or do I really need to ALSO use BnB

Lightyear is the companion Anki deck to the Boards and Beyond lectures, so I wouldn’t use it without doing the videos. BnB is great since it covers all topics, but I wouldn’t say it’s necessary (especially with Step 1 being P/F). If you’re looking for just a good physiology review for each organ system you could just read through BRS Physiology (your school’s library likely has it). That and Pathoma should be a good supplement to your lectures. If you go that route you can instead use the current Anking deck and unsuspend as you read through BRS(under the Costanzo tag) and watch Pathoma(under the pathoma tag).

If you don’t want to do BnB, don’t do lightyear. I did BnB and lightyear, and then I did usmle rx as my qbank. You definitely want a qbank other than uworld for the year before prepping for step. Questions are the most active form of learning and the more you see, the better you’ll be prepared. I liked rx better for preclinical and amboss better for third year. Sketchy is also awesome. I had pathoma from a friend and used it like once. Pretty much everything that was in pathoma was in BnB.

I personally didn’t use BnB. I liked pathoma and sketchy and unsuspended cards from the AnKing deck, it worked really well for me

It's called medical school curricula having often times nothing to do with USMLE/NBME, correct. It's why they made Step 1 P/F from next year: in order to deliver power back to the med schools. Because you have old school admin who reminisce for the good ole' days when students actually attended class and cared about their lectures, instead of using external USMLE prep.

B&B is never something I recommend for students. Get through *Qbanks.* That's where your real kinetic score augmentation can be generated.
