How many of your 3rd year rotations are inpatient versus outpatient?

Just curious if there is much of a different at various schools.

Thanks.

I had 4 weeks of outpatient on medicine and 2 weeks on pediatrics. The rest just had random days in clinic scattered in (usually once a week).

At my school...

FM: All outpatient
IM: 1/4 outpatient, 1/4 subspecialty outpatient & inpatient, 1/2 inpatient
Surgery: All inpatient for gen surg and trauma, mostly inpatient with a few clinic days on subspecialty rotations
OB: Almost all inpatient with a few clinic days
GYN: 1/2 inpatient surgery, 1/2 outpatient
Psych: Almost all inpatient with a few clinic days
Peds: 1/2 inpatient, 1/2 outpatient

FM: 4 weeks outpatient
IM: 4 weeks outpatient, 8 weeks inpatient
Peds: 4 weeks outpatient, 4 weeks inpatient
Surgery: 6 weeks inpatient/same day surgery, with a few days of clinic in there
Ob/gyn: 1/3 gyne surgery (same day or inpatient), 1/3 labor and delivery, 1/3 clinic (total of 4 weeks)
Neuro: depends on which rotation you choose. mine was 1/2 outpatient, 1/2 inpatient
Psych: again, depends on rotation. mine was inpatient consults with one half day of clinic per week

Vast majority inpatient. We had 2 weeks of outpatient peds and 2 weeks of outpatient medicine. Other than that it was all inpatient, with random clinics here or there (1/2 day per week on most of the inpatient services).
