Hey, I was just wondering, for those got 4.0s in the semester, other than your Dean's list honor, do you get any special letters or such from your school. Perhaps, any sort of nominations to any honor socities, etc...
Just curious

nope it just said "Dean's List" on the transcript

It said provost's honor for me on the transcript.

But it's pretty dumb though since it's only 3.5 and up for the Provost's honors... no love for 4.0's.

My college sent me a special letter in the mail congratulating me, but that was it.

at my instituation you get a letter from the president of the college and get on the presidential honor roll in addition to dean's list status.

on another note, do your colleges have any special distinctions for students who graduate with a 4.0 (not rounded), similar to summa cum laude, magna cum laude distinction etc.?

i ain't seen nothing yet. i expected a helicopter hahahhahah seeing as it took me 7 semesters. but our sorority does give u a teacake and pearl.

At my school we get a cake... a sweet cake. Also, it's delivered to us by a seal. But not just any seal - a ninja seal brings us our cakes. That's right - half ninja, half seal. In fact, we call four-pointing a semester "Calling out the ninjeal" around here. Think about that one.

That's pretty cool. Our school just gets us a hooker.

My school says absolutely nothing cool on your transcript or anywhere, but the financial aid office would send you a letter saying you should consider applying for more scholarships :p. Actually, to those with just high grades, too, not necessarily 4.0s.

Hell, I had a whole year that was 4.0, but I didn't get anything for it.

Although, at my school they do nominate people into Phi Beta Kappa *almost* exclusively based on GPA, so it helps.

my school has an escort service. dont think its just for 4.0ers

Mine has one also. Unfortunately, they're only good to walk you to your place late at night. :(

Speaking of scholarships, would you guys inform me how having a high gpa would help and where I should apply? I mean, I am kinda was accepted without any money other than fin aid, but now I am interested in academic scholarships that are reasonable to get.

thanks

there is an honors society scholarship (at my school, im guessing most or all do), but its a royal pain in the ass to apply for them. essays, recommendations, the whole nine yards.

just do some tutoring. youre a freshman, so yeah there isnt much to tutor. try anyway. precalc or some life science should be easy.

At my school, a 4.0 is the chancellor's list and a 3.5 or above is the dean's list. All we get is a letter telling us what a great honor it is. We don't even get a shirt saying "I visited 4.0 land and all I got was this lousy shirt."

summa cum laude,
plus quarter after quarters of dean's list thing....
some invitation from weired honor societies.....

don't expect too much from 4.0. It ain't gonna get u more love. As matter of fact, no body really cared when u passed your interview for grad school or work.

They don't give out anything special at graduation either. The closest they have is summa cum laude at 3.9 or above.

Forget the love I'll just settle for some money.

A single-semester 4.0 really isn't a big deal. Most honor societies require x number of course hours relating to that type of honor society and x GPA in those courses. One semester of a 4.0 really doesn't mean very much at all (unless you do it for 8 semesters and graduate with a 4.0).

Just some letter in the mail to my parents and the honors list or whatever it is.

Since I live on campus, I get to be part of like a 3.5 club, where we get a special dinner for having a GPA over 3.5. And I think I get put on President's list. We'll see when I get back to school and check my mail.

at my school, anyone with a 3.5 GPA or higher gets on the Dean's list, then people with 4.0 GPA are put on what's called "The Special List" lol :) . i got two letters, one for the dean's list and one for the special list. i don't get why they put u on 2 lists. then i was sent a letter from the National Dean's List, i joined because it was free, but i didn't buy the stupid books.

I do this almost every semester and I never recieve anything special from my school. Am I supposed to?

Not anything specific at my school, but my province gives $2500 scholarships to people who place academically within the top 2% of their faculty each year. If you get a 4.0 one semester and a high 3.8 the other, you are likely to get one.

Hey All,

After a few semesters of a 4.0 average, I got a letter waiving any future tuition, free books, "special" food in the cafeteria, and guaranteed admision into the University's medical school.

Just kidding...except for the letter about the tuition...but it turned out it was just a bill  .

Happy new year!

Oldie

they send samples of sturgeon caviar to 4.0 students at my school

I got a computer generated President's Honor Roll "certificate" (bend at corners to open) in the mail. Still have to wait in lines, pay the same tuition, etc. Guess it's worth a couple of dimes is all, lol.

Nothing here for a 4.0. My school doesn't even notify you if you're on the Dean's list, I didn't know we had one until after googling my name a year or two ago.

At my school 3.8 + gpa gets you on the "President's List" and a letter from the president telling you how proud he is to have you. Also it shows up as "President's List" on the transcript. Dean's list folks (3.5+) just get "Dean's List" on their transcript but no letter.

Yeah no love at my school. Just Dean's List....But go figure one semester apparently I don't have Dean's List marked on my transcript even though it was a 4.0 semester.
