PharmCAS allows submission of 4 letters of recommendation.
My scenario...
1. I have a pharmacist from the CVS I work at writing #1.
2. I have a Dr. in biology, who taught me microbiology writing me #2
-My question is about #3 and #4...

-FIRST, for the remaining two recommendations i have a few options, and i want to prioritize the best way i can. I volunteer in a hospital pharmacy, but i only started just recently, is it appropriate to ask for a recommendation from someone there, and if so who and how? I can get a letter from a physics professor I took 3 classes with who holds a master in biomedical engineering, and also a professor I worked with closely in student government as well as took a statistics class with who holds a doctorate in mathematics. I also worked in a high end restaurant for 5 years (customer service) and could receive a letter from my former general manager.

-What is your suggestion as far as what weighs more then the other and which two people I should ask to write my final 2 letters?

I wouldn't ask anyone at the hospital pharmacy where you just started volunteering unless they are good at BSing. Someone there probably won't have much to say about you except shes nice, she appears to be a good student, and she volunteers here.

I would go with the physics professor and the former general manager IF he writes well since he's known you for a while and can speak to your work habits. Just give both of them a resume so they have something to say that isn't so generic.

Write up a CV so those who are recommending you have more to talk about and will present a more whole picture of you as a candidate.

Google it for examples. But its basically a more detailed resume that describes your work experience, educational background, honors, awards, skills that you have, etc.

Ideally your recommender knows you well enough that a CV is more of a formality.

Your recommender is only human and probably will not remember EVERY extracurricular that you have been involved in. Of course the letter speaks about your character, but it helps to have examples. This is why you provide a CV.

"Not only is bob1234 an excellent, devoted student, he also is very compassionate because he has been feeding the homeless every Wednesday at ABC for the past 2 years.

Sending a CV to your recommender probably will only ENHANCE the quality of the recommendation letter as they can draw from specifics.

is having 4 letters of recommendation better than having 3? Because most school the max would be 3, but would getting a 4th one hurt or be beneficial?

Im curious about this as well. Four of the five schools I am applying to require 2 LORs and the other requires 3. I was able to get 4 LORs uploaded to PharmCAS, so would an extra one or two look better or will the schools just pick two at random and read those?

usually they will read all the letters
