I have an overall gpa of 3.33 and my pcat score is a horrible 43 percentile. Although some schools I applied to have a minimum of 40 I am still not feeling optimistic. I am taking it again in January. I'm not sure how I will do (I'm not too good at long test like those) But with my pcat and gpa is there any chance I get admission for fall 2012? Any advice or suggestions ? Thank you

What's your science GPA? Your PCAT score is a red flag for evaluators. I suggest you to retake your PCAT and try to do way better.

Science gpa is 2.77 on Pharmcas but when I calulate myself roughly around a 3.0 :/ not too good . I just hope I do good on the pcat January. I used dr Collins and got the 43 now I'm taking a Kaplan course and using it with dr Collins bveayse I feel the Kaplan course isn't really helping. Did anyone use Collins for the September pcat ? I'm trying to figure out why I did so bad on the verbal and chem sections. Any advice anyone I take it January 11th

I used Collins for the September PCAT. If there are Chem sections you are weak on, at this point, maybe watch the khanacademy.org videos and run through the Collins practice problems or if you have any old exams from your classes... the Pearson practice tests are also helpful if slightly easier in the overall than the real thing. I thought the Collins Verbal section was really beneficial... maybe we had different forms of the exam.

Also, where are you applying and have you already put in applications?

Definitely retake the PCAT or repeat some classes to get your GPA up.. I strongly recommend Dr Collins to prepare for the PCAT 🙂 It is possible to score higher in the math, chem and bio sections! Good luck

Def retake the pcat and try to do well in ur sciences. I used Dr Collins and made 88 bio 90 chem, not a big math guy with 38 and VA with 53, Slow reader in RC earned me a very low score cos i think 6 passages with minimum 6 paragraph each for slow readers for only 50 mins and 48 questions in BS BS BS especially for those from foreign countries. Any way cGPA 2.96, sGPA 2.98, and pcat 56 with bunch of pharmacy experience in different settings as a pharmacy technician helped a lot and i got in my first choice. Don't give up pls cos it's one of the best feelings u will have once accepted. Good luck

Thanks guys. So for dr Collins how did you study it. Did you go over the packets over and over or you did the practice tests. Because in the bio and chem sections when I took it in September I don't Remember alot of the concepts in dr Collins on there and I did not see alot of the verbal. The math however had some of the concepts I remember and I did well on it. Any advice on how to study for the bio and chem sections ..practice test concepts or packet ?

I went over the bio and chem to the point where i could answer the questions in my sleep. I understood them and i also did the practice test on the pearson website. I took mine in the summer. I remember over 50 percent on the chemistry i studied in the dr collins guide appeared coupled with my studying that's y i scored so high. the bio for dr collins didn't help me much so i used the kaplan bio book and mcgraw hill bio. But the practice test will certainly help u and it's much easier than the real thing. For the chem its just practice, practice, practice. Read the overall bio guide for dr collins to give u an idea. I also have the january updates for dr collins in u want it lemme know or pm me.

Thanks I hope it's not too late to try to study for the January pcat even though I have been . I guess I have to buckle up. How much are you selling the update for ?

I highly do not recommend the Kaplan course. If you can still quit and get your money back, do so. I used a combination of the Kaplan book at B&N and the Collin's guide. Like others have said, your GPA and PCAT scores are red flags to ADCOMs since your GPA kind of reflects your PCAT score. Definitely retake. If you need any help, shoot me a PM. I took the PCAT and got a 27 the first time right after finishing the Kaplan course. A year later, I did a combo of the Kaplan/Collin's and got 88 or so. It's not impossible, good luck!

FWIW, I have a 3.2 GPA and got a 75 on PCAT. I applied to many schools and got interviews for maybe 7 of them and accepted to 2. I think it helps to have a lot of pharmacy experience and to get good letters of recommendations to supplement low GPA/PCAT scores. Also apply as soon as possible to schools.

Wrong forum

Haha, I agree. At first I was going to move this to "What Are My Chances", but it seems like people are giving a lot of PCAT advice, so I am going to help out and move it there. 👍

OP: Retake the PCAT and rock it. 👍👍

First off, don't give up! Secondly, that Kaplan course won't do you good. Just saying. I took it, its useless. Waste of over $1500. Dr.Collins is the way to go. Re-do Dr.Collins and be optimistic. Good luck for the Jan PCAT. Also, apply to schools that don't need the PCAT.
