Hey, I feel like I am falling way behind here (taking CS March 18th)

For those 4th years who are in the 2006 match to start residency this June/July, are you all going to take the CS before Feb 25th?

who has NOT taken the CS??

if not, when are you taking it?

Am I the last 4th year in this year's match who has not taken the CS? (definitely getting a little worried here)

Nah, I'm taking it tomorrow, and I know of many in my class that will be taking the stupid thing after I do. So not to worry, there are many others out there who have put it off for a while...

I also take in April, I didn't want to mess with it until after the Match. I wouldn't sweat it!

Man, I thought I was procrastinating when I scheduled it for March 20th.

I'm taking it March 31st, and I know many people taking it in April and May. Someone I know graduated last year, is almost done with his intern year, and still hasn't taken it. He is convinced that this test will be eliminated for US grads soon, and he doesn't want to waste time and money taking it.

Is he (the intern) doing his residency in a DO or MD program. I thought you have to have pass the Step CS by the time residency starts.

My school requires it for graduation.

Anyone else taking it after February 25th??

Get rid of it? They just implemented it a couple years ago and you can't take the Step 3 without it.

I'm taking it 2/28. With more clinical experience it is more likely you will pass. If you don't pass, you still have time to retake it before internship so you are taking it at the perfect time. Don't listen to people who took it early. You must pass it to practice medicine and you must pass it to graduate from some D.O. programs. You make graduate from a D.O. program to start your internship. I think you are in fine shape.

I think you are right, I don't think you can graduate from an U.S. M.D. Medical school without passing the CS. Also, you can't start a M.D. internship without it.

this is precisely why I brought up the question (if anyone is taking it after Feb 15th??) to the forum. If someone fails the test, it doesn't seem like there will be enough time to take another one of these in time before internship starts.

Anyone else taking the test after Feb 25??

Actually, my med school required that we TAKE CS and CK before graduation in May. We do NOT have to pass them to graduate, just take them. However, residency programs (or more likely state licensing bureaus) *may* require you to have passed them before starting.

My school requires us to take the exam in order to graduate. We do not have to pass the exam prior to graduation though.

I'm taking this ******ed exam tomorrow 😡.

Good luck Daisygirl. Im sure you will be as confident as all the US medical students who took it with me...which made me feel like crap the whole time and I was thinking that I probably was messing up and not doing and knowing what Im supposed to because I was a nervous wreck!!!

Im sure you will do fine...Just read First Aid again before going to bed.

Yeah, good luck. You will do fine. Got mine done last Friday, and it was a bundle of joy. Just be happy and nice and smile.
Best $1000 lunch I ever had...

Will I at least be able to get a cup of coffee for my thousand bucks? Especially, since I'll be held hostage in the building for all of those painful hours. I'm paricularly concerned about this since I'll be in the PM session 😡

Good Luck daisygirl. It will be over soon.

I took it today in atlanta. Just read FA, review the physical examination techniques, remember to wash your hands and everything is gonna be ok. FA prepares you pretty good.

and yes, it gets annoying after the 3rd patient.
