I've gotten interviews at 5 schools so far, as well as 3 pre-interview waitlists. I've interviewed at my top choice and gotten alternate listed - which sucks, but I have yet to hear from another school. 3 interviews to go. I can't help it, but I'm definitely getting depressed. Amidst the letters of rejection, alternate lists, and "holds", I can't help but feel that Even with 5 interviews, I may see 0 acceptances. Advice ? 🙁

which schools did you interview at? and how long ago did you interview?

interviewed at lmu-dcom on the 6th - waitlisted

interviewed at lecom-erie on 8th - no reply yet

pre-interview waitlist / "hold" at : CCOM, Nova, KCUMB

upcoming interviews : Touro-CA, Touro-NY, Touro-Henderson

:-/

i know that getting an interview off the preinterview waitlist at nova and ccom is really hard. (since after you get interview they accept like 80%) Im not sure what your stats are, but of all the schools i think touro henderson is the least competitive. DMU, touro CA, CCOM, and KCUMB are all fairly competive depending on whether your from any of those states.

I can't even begin to imagine how your feeling right now... but, look at the bright side, some people haven't had 5 interviews, and its toooo early for you to assume none of them will accept you.....

If you sit there and worry about it, its going to get you no where, just relax and enjoy your life 🙂

I would say to send letters of interest to the schools you're on hold and waitlisted at. Of the five interviews you have you've only heard back from one. That leaves 4 opportunities to get at least 1 acceptance! That doesn't even include the chance to get of DCOM's waitlist. You're doing great and you have a lot of opportunities. I think it's just hard when you see a lot of people with acceptances already and it would be nice to be in that position. Don't worry, things will look up. 😀

Look on the bright side: you don't have AIDS.

***ignore this post if you have AIDS***

haha, texastriathlete, that was in slightly bad taste, but made me laugh. thanks.

oh yeah, now that i look back at my file - i'm NOT on hold at Nova, I just haven't heard back from them yet. I know getting off CCOM's waitlist is tough...It's going to be an uphill battle to get in there.

To be honest, my stats arent all that stellar so maybe i'm just lucky i got this many interviews to begin with. keep your fingers crossed for me guys.

I'm not from any of these states...That will probably hurt me. I know Touro-CA has a high acceptance rate post interview, so i figure they wouldnt' have interviewed me if i had no chances of getting in...i think?

after decemeber 14th ull prolly get more feedback from schools, until then i wouldnt count on hearing too much.

from my touro-nevada interview, in-state versus out-of-state doesn't play as big of a role as other factors. their main goal is to accept students and retain them in nevada; nevada has a serious physician shortage and Touro-NV is making serious steps to address that.

i think you're right...good thing it's less than a month away. outside of the places i've got interviews at - the schools i'm on "hold" at and other schools are kind of playing a "wait and see" game - seeing if they fill their seats up or not...hopefully they wont 😳

Its probably just a tiny bit early to be freaking out

good point...though last year i didnt freak out at all, coasted my way into the spring and ended up not getting in anywhere. That's why this year i'm trying to stay on top of things..i know the rest of the year lies ahead of us, but getting an acceptance after the wintertime becomes a lot tougher, as a lot of our pre-allo friends flood d.o schools with applications, and most schools are at 50% capacity if not more..

Did you do anything to improve your application?

Only applying to 5 places is a good way to not get in anywhere.

Think of it this way

Acceptance>5 interviews>4 interviews>3...>2...>1...>0...>apply next year>apply 2 years after, so on and so forth.

You are almost there man!.
but, I have a little suggestion if you are waking up in the middle of the night and freaking out over this. Pray! or if you are not religious, just wish and it can come true 🙄 . Atleast you would build confidence subconsciously and you won't mess up on your other interviews that are yet to come.

you're right..i dont know what i was thinking last year...

but since then,

I got a 4.0 my last 2 semesters of college, retook 2 classes i had C's in, did research with parkinson's disease at Rush University , did humanitarian work abroad and in the U.S, and am getting my masters at northwestern. I got a 4.0 my first quarter, and got amazing letters of rec from my graduate faculty . I added 100 hours+ of volunteer work ,i think i beefed up my C.V significantly..i understood i wasnt a competitive enough applicant last cycle so i worked my butt off to make myself one...so hopefully this improves my application enough this year!

thanks..that puts things into perspective pretty nicely..i'm not incredibly religous , but prayer has always worked so maybe it will help me chill out a bit =)
