...till Thanksgiving break!!!!

Keep chugging along and beating the crap out of those exams they throw at you!

We have two more here at UCSD, Cellular and Molecular Basis of Disease (monday), and Immunology in Health and Disease (Wed).

Rock out and let those PhD's and MD/PhD's know "WE GON RUN THIS TOWN TONIGHT!" (from Jay-Z's song)

even when we have to study during it 🙂

Thought I'd chime in here. I'm a 4th-year. Currently playing Prototype on my 360 and sipping scotch with some music on. Have been doing this for months now.

Good luck on your exams. I remember them sucking.

I have to take it by the end of April. Aren't you supposed to be studying for them starting within 6 months of the test?

I have no idea.

My school is different in that most people don't take Step 1 until 3rd year, and then they just take 2 complete months off to study.

I was assuming you were taking it over the summer.

We're done with exams here at MCG. Our next MS1 exam is Dec 19th.

Lucky you... we have to take it over this summer... I'm COMLEX bound July 2

Most people in my class are taking it less than 1 months after classes end with the majority late may/early june.

Got the OMM shelf 2 days after we get back from turkey day... so no studying break for me

Yikes, so then you pretty much have to prepare during the school year then?

At what point during the 3rd year do you take it? Just curious, sounds interesting. Your thoughts on that system? Kinda nice to have 2 months completely off to study, anyway.

You can take it whenever you want. A lot of people will take it in Jan/Feb of 3rd year, so for us, that's after a year of rotations. According to the Dean, they haven't seen a drop in board scores by waiting either.

I'm waiting until later to take it because I'm burned out from second year. Since it's only one semester, it's pretty intense.

MS2s like Thanksgiving too. 🙂

MS3's like thanksgiving too!! While I too have to study through it I'm just thankful for a few days where I can *just* study instead of having to do it after an exhausting day in the hospital.

4 days!! Lucky for me my school spreads our tests out nicely, so we have only one test before Thanksgiving, and then only three after the break before Christmas. Man I love block scheduling.

We have an exam right after Thanksgiving break which really defeats the "break" part 😛
Once I found that out I was actually glad I wasn't headed back to my parent's house for the break. We don't get Wednesday off and I live quite literally on the other side of the country, so it's just not worth it. I'm just glad I have a cousin who lives near, so I'll go to his and his wife's house for the actual Thanksgiving day and then study the rest of the weekend.

My countdown is for Christmas break!! 🙂 26 days and counting for us!

THIS.

I swear to God I am going to devour that entire turkey in 6.2 seconds. Those other 18 people around the dinnertable on Thursday who claim to be my nuclear and/or extended family can nibble at the carcass.

Aw, lucky! We have to take it before we can begin 3rd year clerkships.

As for Thanksgiving break - I'm in it! No school for 1 week!!!!!!

Haha, that sucks. We have one exam before Thanksgiving. Then one exam between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love our block scheduling.

I'm sadly going to be all by my lonesome. My fam is across the country and I know I wouldn't study if I went there, and my husband has to work on turkey day. I'm contemplating buying a turkey and then eating it by myself however . . . . but weighing the risk benefit ratio (psychological well being of not feeling socially ostracized from cultural norms vs tryptophan induced coma).

I'm not going home, so Thanksgiving break is basically just another standard week of med school. Study all day, maybe check out the one run that's open in the mountains, football and food on thanksgiving, but mostly just studying. we have a monster week of exams before christmas, awesome.

We have a similar option, but the problem is that the only designated free time we're given to study for boards is the month in between our Path shelf and our rotations starting. If you want to take it after rotations start either you need to study for it during rotations (which I don't think will work) or you need to take one of your two months of vacation to study for it (which I refuse to do).

Yea, that would suck. I guess now is the best time for you guys.

thanksgiving breaaaaaaaaaaak! soo cloooooooooooose! We are finishing up a marathon of tests....this will be our 8th week in a row of Monday tests (altho this next lats physio test is on Tuesady). almost....there..........

they tried to give us an exam the Monday after Thanksgiving but luckily we got them to change it. A holiday exam free will be heavenly. pass the turkey, fools

More like Fakesgiving. At my school we have a lecture exam and anatomy lab exam on the following Monday (combined percentage of grade for this unit: 50%.) I'm a little bitter about it.

We had our second block exam on Friday, so we are done with exams until December 15/18. Two days of class this week, and I anticipate some pretty pathetic attendance.

We finish Wednesday morning. Expecting that test to be our hardest yet. 👎

That's just wrong.

Our thanksgiving break started at approximately noon on Friday, Nov 20 and ends at 9 AM on Monday, Nov 30....aaaaahhh

I did absolutely nothing over the weekend, and this week my classmates and I are treating as 'no new material' week; I don't celebrate 'Turkey day' but I'll do some fun things with the family.

And, while we do have some mondo exams in finals week (6 classes between Dec 14-18, the other 3 (histo, anatomy, stats) are already done for the semester), the two weeks of 'class' we have actually involve very limited lecture hours. I love our school's schedule, do the heavy lifting up front and let it taper off when we are all completely burned out

hahaha yeah. so true.

One more to go!!!!!!!!!!! The hardest one yet...the one where the lecturer is prof. emeritus, knows his stuff, but mispeaks all the freakin time!

Love it...but I love the subject!

Today we finished 2 days of exams, and now we have the rest of the week off. Not only that, there's NO STUDYING because we just finished a block in anatomy, and won't start the next one until Monday.

This is the first free weekend I've had since the end of September, and I really, really need the R&R.

woo hoo freedom!

Who in America doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving and Why???

well, until Monday that is.

Who in America doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving and Why???

My theories:

1) They're Hippy/PETA/Vegan crazies. Tomorrow they will be celebrating 'love day' with a dinner of tofu and hemp.

2) They're Turkish and they consider the name 'turkey day' a form of copyright infringement

3) They're cannibals. They consider a holiday based around eating a lower species condescending.

4) They're turkeys. They're all. Just. Turkeys. BTW I picture the one posting on SDN as a turkey wearing a white coat. There's no reason he would need to wear it around the farm, but he does it anyway.

sheesh, is it that hard to imagine to not celebrate Thanksgiving? I'm desi, and vegetarian...we don't eat turkey, or pumpkin pie, or any of that stuff. And my bro livin' 2000 miles away can't come over twice in the span of a month, so we do the family thing over Christmas (which we used to actually celebrate to a certain extent when I was a kid, I grew up in a very very Catholic neighborhood).

Though I have had two 'real' Thanksgiving dinners with friends, one Jewish and one with a large boisterous Italian family. My (Puerto Rican/African American) friend is also vegetarian, but we had tofurkey and all the other good non-meat stuff with the big turkey sitting there on the table.

you can celebrate the day of giving thanks with out eating turkey or other meat.

can we count down to christmas now? I have 8 tests in the next 10ish days, a total of 11 before christmas.

I think I just spent three days not studying. fml.
