Working as a Respiratory Therapist in ICU and ER for about 2 years and was totally unaware that AACOMAS have different gpa caculcation system than my school. I thought they only look at BCPM gpa like amcas. So I calculated my science gpa with BCP and my courses from my major ( tons of super hard 400 level classes like cadaver lab, pharmacology, physiology, pathology etc) to be around 3.22. Non science GPA is above 3.7. No research experience but strong EC's and good recs from my attendings and professors.

I know none of these matters if GPA and MCAT aren't strong but if you have any recommendation for school please let me know. Thanks.

Did you factor in grade replacement as well? As it stands I think you have a nice shot at it! Should get some interviews

Try these out

WCUCOM
VCOM (All 3)
WVCOM (i got in here with similar stats)
ACOM
BCOM
CUCOM

And in general apply as early as you can, but make sure the app is strong, I'm talking personal statement and description of activities. Have you started the PS?

I submitted my application yesterday. They already have my main college transcript but I just sent out my community college transcript last week which they are yet to receive. I think the verification process takes a month or so and then you start getting secondary application. So gotta wait one more month for that I think. Thanks for the recommendation! What's grade replacement by the way?

That was my original plan until i found out aacomas's gpa calculation system. For most DO schools, it seems like 3.4 is competitive science gpa. should i even try applying to all those?

no prob! grade replacement only occurs if you have retaken any courses. AACOMAS factors in only your last retake into your GPA, as opposed to AMCAS which takes factors all the times you took the course. Best of luck with the cycle, you got it!

Hi I'm from michigan, and I got a 496 when I took the MCAT last summer. I retook it in july and i'm still waiting for my scores. My gpa is 3.6 and science is 3.5 from what schools tell me... I also retook cell bio that I got a 2.5 and got a 3.8.

I only applied to 3 schools so far: BCOM, CUCOM, and MSU-DO. Any thoughts? I think my mcat was better than last year but it was ridiculously hard for cars and bio biochem.
