Hello everyone,

So I am currently in community college and majoring in business. However, I will be transferring to a 4 year university soon. My question is upon entering the 4yr university how am I supposed to fit in the rest of my pre-reqs for dental school (Chem, Ochem, physics, and biochem) while still being being able to complete the rest of my 60 credits for my business major???

Thanks in advance 😉

Totally doable. I had all of the minimum pre-reqs for the schools I am applying to completed by the end of my second year at my four year university. Not sure how the business program is at the four year university you will be attending, but at least at mine, there is a lot of flexibility within the major as it is a common degree where people double major and pick up minors.

Start right away taking the pre-reqs, and you should be fine. When time does apply, though, make sure you pay attention to the CC credits each school allows. Dental schools treat CC credits differently.

Jeez...does this include biochem and A&P?

I had the minimum requirements done -- not any of the "recommended" courses, like biochemistry and A&P, that make you a stronger applicant. For OP's sake, the minimum requirements are definitely the place to start and the priority to enroll in.

Tell me about it lol...do you have any suggestions though?

Adcoms will look at the difficulty of your terms, challenge yourself if you know you can do it but if you need to take that extra year to finish up then by all means take your time. Just don't let that BCP GPA fall.

Take summer and winter classes. Take an extra class a semester.
If you want it bad enough, that's what you do.
Or switch majors and have a minor in business.

so would I be aiming at taking 2 science course (minimal pre-reqs)for 2 semester followed by 2 courses for business? At that rate it seems like I would have to do a 5th year at the university just to catch up on my business classes

Does the university have a pre-dental advisor? Wouldn't hurt to get their opinion since they know more about the specific classes and you could potentially use the committee letter

That I will do😀
However, I still would like to know how members here have delt with this situation or anything similar?
Thanks anyways

I took very full semesters + every summer semester so that I could get my major (biomedical sciences), minor (public health), and study abroad 3x. It's not fun, but it's doable.
