Yeah, what's up with that Finch date? Are they trying to prevent people from getting in off the waitlists elsewhere?

2 more days of work and I am finished with the insurance industry forever (unless I come back next summer)! Oh, and 7 days until the summer program at Temple begins. My stomach is starting to feel floopy (rhymes with Snoopy).

I think that program is for students that have been already accepted to their medical school class and are minorities.

Oh God! This thread is depressing me. :( Medical school starts in a little over two months for me, but I could definitely wait. :D I'm just kicking back and enjoying life right now. Guys, just relax and have fun. Soon medical school will start, and we will look back at this nonstressful time and wish we were still in summer vacation.

I'm looking forward to it :) I'm tired & bored with my job. I guess being away from the books for three years can make you kind of miss it!?!

need to buy laptop
need to buy car
need to find housing
need to make friends

After my awesome trip, of course!

Being a minority shouldn't be something to be ashamed of. It doesn't diminish the achievement of acceptance, even if it's not as hard for URM's.

they are very clever...u have to risk it, either go to finch or give up ur spots which u may or may not get...or give up finch, and risk not even getting accepted to med school!

thank god that wasn't an option for me?

Am I crazy or has no one heard the expression "Guity as charged", meaning "you hit the nail on the head" or you are correct? Is it me or did Bikini Princess's remarks seem a little odd?

Some may ask why some of us are counting down the days till school starts. If you've been working a mindless and boring (yet still very stressful) job for the last year like myself you would be very grateful to start using your brain again.

I wish I had enough money to quit and just chill for the next few months, but I can't. For those of you that have the money and can, more power to you. I hear many people say "enjoy the Summer because medical school is going to be so terrible." I just don't see how it can be much worse that working as a night shift nurses aid while living at your parents house! Talk about a complete lack of a life, all I do is work and sleep.

Ah yes,

62 days until orientation starts.

45 days until I quit my job (I have to buy a car).

I've been marking the days off the calendar since about 390 days to go. I'm down to 30. My school has a 3 week prematric course that starts the first week of July - so I'm counting that. It seems like a lot of us that are moving out of careers and back to school are the eager ones. I don't think if I had just graduated that I would be this enthusiastic.

You are taking the prematriculation course at UAMS? Wanting to get a little head start on the rest of us? I guess I need to go ahead and buy the books and start reading! Damn, I'm going to be such a gunner!

If you haven't seen it already, you can download copys of the Freshman Fall schedule, Fall book lists, and an orientation schedule at the UAMS website. Its at Calenders and Course Schedules

It looks like we are starting out with an 8 week block of Cell Biology, Biochemistry, and ICM-1, which we will completely finish up (except for ICM-1) before a one week Fall break. Only after that 8 week block do we start Gross and Microanatomy.

I wish that Temple would offer that program to all acceptees, not just URMs. It sounds like everyone going to that program is going to get a head start...

I haven't cracked a textbook in over a year. That plus a degree in history equals need for head start.

WOW... 51 days to give my boss the pink slip (quit my job), and 69 Days for Orientation. I just can't wait. Just like some of you, I have been out of school for a year. I can't wait to quit my job (quit all these synthesis, kinectics, and isomerizations of all these damn chemicals).

About 46 days left...

I'm one of the "lucky" ones that gets to start early  ...and my summer just started! I'm still excited though  :D

July 22nd baby!

They are using us as guinea pigs. Hope it all works out just the same. Dang! 8 week crash course then onto gross!
