Seems like there is a thread for every single major MCAT administration except for this day... any reason for this? Well in any case im missing first day of fall classes to take this test, hopefully it works out haha. Hoping for a physiology heavy bio!

ha,

well if you do well, you won't be able to study because you are excited. if you don't do well, you won't be able to study for obvious reasons. than again, how can you study knowing your scores are here and without looking.

anyone know what time our scores arrive? i heard they usually come in the afternoon

who can't sleep?

Me!! I'm really nervous. :scared:
I have my day planned out tomorrow to stop myself from pulling up the MCAT THx website every 30 seconds.

And to answer TheBoss88, yes I know how you feel. This wasn't my first time taking the test, but it is my first time being nervous the night (or 2 weeks) before the score report comes out.

Good luck to everyone! Many :luck::luck::luck: (I'm not Irish, but I feel like the luck of the Irish should apply to everyone in this kind of stressful situation). :luck::luck::luck::luck:

Bryana2, In your experience - Do the scores always come out at the exact date and time that the website says?

I'm really trying not to check 🙁

I think they generally come out the same date that the website says, but the time varies.

Yep I can confirm they are out. 34Q here

PS: 14
VR: 9
BS: 11

AAMC Avg: 33

Overall I am satisfied with score since practice averages were around here. Will apply early next cycle and hopefully this can compensate my low GPA somewhat (3.6).

Hell to the yesssssss. This is the score i got on AAMC 11, but i had never gotten as high on any other practice. Most scores were 34s with a 32 and 31 mixed in.

12/10/10 32Q

AAMC 10: 32
AAMC 11: 37
AAMC average: 34

kind of disappointed but it's good enough. Didn't do bad enough to feel sorry for myself but I didn't do good enough to feel great. Sort of emotionless.

I knew VR had the potential to screw me over. I was praying for a 10, but with 2 wks of studying I shouldn't complain. I was expecting anywhere from 28-37

9 VR, 12 PS, 12 BS

Total:33Q

Was sincerely expecting 13+ in BS as I honestly found it to be my easiest section of the test. I must have made a few errors of reasoning and I didn't get enough time to review.

I need to submit my primaries tonight or tomorrow by noon and stop procrastinating.

AAMC Practice Tests:
mean: 37
range: 33-40

Actual:
37S
11/13/13 (V/PS/BS)

I'm really happy! This confirms what we all suspected: the BS curve would be really helpful. I seriously was expecting 10 or 11 on BS because I felt like I guessed on at least 4 questions.

AAMC practice test mean 30

Pleasantly surprised

Actual:
PS - 13
VR - 11
WS - M 👎
BS - 12

36M

Very happy with the score, not so much with the writing but ill take this score anyday.

I have been lurking around the forum for a while now. Since the score is out, I will use my first post to share it with you all.

I got 13PS, 8VR, 10BS

Total: 31N

Seeing that score makes me so happy, especially on verbal. It was my weakest section and I was afraid it would dip below an 8, despite feeling good on that section of the test. I had never been able to predict the score on that section. However, getting an 8 is like getting a bronze metal because I am an immigrant studying chemical engineering. I spent most of my study time focusing on just the verbal and hey, I got what I want. I am happy.

Hard work pays off. Never give up guys. Good jobs everyone. 🙂

15/10/13/O = 38O
Expected score: 33T
AAMC average: 35.5

I don't know what to think; to be honest I am really confused. I thought my written section was the strongest. If I didn't save my first essay would they automatically save it when time runs out?

Yes, I never saved my essays but they were scored. The writing sample really seems like a crapshoot sometimes, I don't understand how the scoring works.

As expected, I have to retake the exam in January. Problem wasn't the material, it was the nerves as I said in an earlier post.

AAMC AVERAGE: 34

Real MCAT: 30 (11-9-10) 👎

Not that 30 is a terrible score, its just not up to par with what I expect of myself. What I'm saying is that I am retaking it because I KNOW I can do better.

So my current standing is-

MCAT: 30
GPA: 3.85
Major: Neuroscience

I'm in the same position as you. I also had an aamc average of a 34 but got a 32. Would you retake if you got a 32 (balanced)?

I feel like I did 10+ in PS and BS. VR seemed like an 8. So I'm expecting 28 minimum if VR doesn't go below 8. If I hit my VR practice average of 10 I'll most likely score over 30 🙄

Guess I was right. But it's still a stupid test IMO. 👎

I'm not sure if I would retake with a 32. That's pretty competitive for mid-tier medical schools. What's your GPA like?

I got an 11PS 14VR 11BS and a T for my writing samples. I guess it shows that I was a non-science major. I felt pretty good when I took the test, I was hoping for a bit higher in my sciences. Not worth retaking though, so I'm done. I'm a non-trad applicant so I have more important stuff to worry about, like my science classes.

PS: 13
V: 9
Writing: N
BS: 10

My science GPA is a little above 3.8 and cumulative even higher...

My average for the AAMC exams was around 29-30, but I was burned out over the summer and did not study to capacity. I am fairly sure I am going to apply next cycle so I hope this is will suffice and I do not have to retake.

I am looking to attend a mid-tier MD or a good DO medical school. Just do not want to go the Caribbean...

Im pretty sure you dont have to worry about ending up in the caribbean with a 3.8/32. I dont even think you should worry about going to a DO school either. That is unless you want to do DO.

I can't blame him/her. SDN makes you feel everyone scores a 39 or wields a 4.0 GPA. I feel pretty crappy about my 33 and 3.9 GPA. My friend just got an interview at Harvard with a 32.

around a 3.7 from a top 10 school. I'm most likely not going to retake just because I don't want to go through the stress again with a possibility that I won't even improve.

For those that did 10+ on the BS, what did you use for preparation and study? I used the EK Bio book, but the topics that day seemed way out in left field and honestly I would have scored the same if I had not even spent a minute studying.

I'm looking at a re-take in January.

I used the EK Bio book and I felt I would've scored the same as well with 90% less prep, but DON'T underestimate the effect of the confidence that emanates from preparation.

I would recommend a taking the tests and analyzing the logic leading to the answers. The 30 minute tests in the EK Bio review book are pretty good in my opinion. I was scoring about 11-15 on those depending on the chapter and 12-13 on AAMC. I made a 12 on the real thing which was even below what I expected.

I used TPRH bio and scored in the teens. TPRH was, as others have attested, rather dense, but I think it was appropriate if you wanted a really high score. Even though you don't use most of the knowledge during the MCAT, I think it helped a lot to have a very comprehensive understanding of how the body and cells work. I even supplemented TPRH with some chapters from a cell biology textbook, but I didn't do practice passages/questions beyond the AAMC full-lengths (if you have a lot of experience interpreting tables + graphs as I did, practice may not be necessary).
