Seems like there is a thread for every single major MCAT administration except for this day... any reason for this? Well in any case im missing first day of fall classes to take this test, hopefully it works out haha. Hoping for a physiology heavy bio!

I hate bio from now on.... the way some of the questions esp the one passage in bio with like 5 pictures was frekin confusing

Anyway how i felt:
Going in: :xf:
PS 🙂
VR 😕
Writing: whatever
BS 😱:bang:
Going out: 🙁

For those that have taken it today, what would you say that the bio section resembled most-- any particular AAMC? Most people say that recent bio sections are resembling AAMC 11. Do you feel that any book in particular resembles the current exam? I ask b/c I have my exam soon and am getting scared about how they altered the bio section and yet there is really no reliable material to prepare for it. Any advice/suggestions would be nice. Thanks in advanced.

I would recommend resting your brain a bit before the test as all the info was in the passages, and I had to reason my way to the best answer. I had to guess on the hard questions, or the questions that i thought would take too much time. I was apprehensive about other posts saying that the bio was like verbal, but i completely agree. Good luck.

There seems to be a pattern developing with the previous tests. When I sat in May of this year, the PS seemed rather straightforward. In fact, it seemed a bit too easy. I ended up doing not as well as expected. The Bio seemed to be as difficult as what you guys are relating, as well.

I think the trend now is easier PS, but a tougher scale I assume.

it felt most like aamc 11 but it was even more extreme (at least in terms of bio). The physical science and verbal felt like any of the aamc tests. I think the bio was a lot of intuition. You have to be able to educationally guess well and you might be surprised as to how well you do even though you feel like you guessed on the entire test. Bio felt much harder and different to me but I'm not convinced that I did poorly. People will still probably get around their aamc average, plus or minus a few points. I'm just worried it will be minus a few points for me haha.

I did not find the test that bad at all, after studying for 6 months I feel like:

Physical sciences section, was like the physical sciences section on every other practice test. I feel like I did well on this, normally on my practice tests I score like 12-13 for physical sciences, for this test the only difference was there was more calculation questions.

Biological sciences: do not know why everyone is saying it was so bad, honestly it was a relaxed section-I feel like i did really well on it. I did feel though that some of the passages were confusing to read, and had a lot of experimental stuff, so if thats not a strong point, I would work on that.

Verbal was tricky. I normally score 11-12s on my practice aamc tests and I thought this verbal test was quite tricky, maybe because the passages were not that difficult to read. Honestly many times i thought i had the correct answer but after re-evaluating the questions and answering by elimination I realized I made "stupid mistakes". By the end of it I felt like I did as well as I did on my practice tests.

Writing: nothing special.

I agree with you on everything. PS was more calculation-heavy than normal largely due to the over-representation of physics but it felt ok. I didn't find the BS too bad at all, but it was harder than the AAMCs as many questions required more thought and careful reading of the passage, so I can understand why many people found it unusually challenging. On the other hand, verbal is a crapshoot. I think I marked 7 questions. I only took AAMC 3 and AAMC 11 and scored exactly 10 on the VRs; averaged 9.5 on EK 101 (range of 8-11), so I'll be happy with an 8-11 on the real deal.

I will reserve comments on how well I did because the scale could screw things up. Maybe I scored a 26. Who knows? Although I averaged 33 on my AAMCs.

Looks like October 4th on the AAMC release score website. Its gonna be tough waiting...

I can't wait this long. I wish I could just sleep until October 4th.

I still have horrifying dreams about the exam.

omgimcrazy.

Hey guys, I created this thread so i figured I should at least comment on what I thought of the exam.

PS: Felt easy, almost too easy at certain points. Several very major concepts were not tested on this test which surprised me. I did not take a second semester of physics and did not feel disadvantaged on this test at all. However I did not really get a chance to run through all of my calculations and there were a few concept questions I went with my gut feeling on... so hoping for the best, and praying for no stupid mistakes on calculations.

VR: Wasnt too bad. Ive been pretty consistent on my AAMCs and havent really done anything to boost this section since I was happy with my practice scores. I was kind of distracted by how happy i felt after PS that Im hoping that didnt throw me off. Overall it felt slightly easier than practice, but not by much. Didnt think there were any absurd passages.

BS: Very overwhelming section. Skipped a bio and THE orgo passage (if you know the test you know which one) first time through. Was hoping for an easy BS coming in and was definitely sweating halfway through the exam. However when I went back to those two sections and settled down a bit, I didnt find the questions too bad. However I must warn anyone that hasnt taken their MCAT yet that the bio section has definitely changed. There were very few knowledge based questions, and a decent amount of graph interpretation. I have some experience analyzing studies so maybe that helped me, but this section has definitely changed. DO NOT go in thinking you can answer almost all of the questions without having read the passage, this is DEFINITELY no longer the case.

PS: In retrospect, I suppose PS was not so bad...but there were a few questions I had to recheck calculations as well. I avoided so many stupid mistakes, it felt so good fixing them!! ahhh this is my crappiest section though, so an 8-10 would be plenty for me

VR: Pretty easy, but this is my strongest section. I usually score 13-14 on practice exams.

BS: Thought it was fairly average, with perhaps two passages that were hard as a whole. I guess the "pictures" one is the one that threw everyone off? Good to hear that I wasn't the only one 😱😱😱😱😱 when I saw that

mtromer13, did you take the 1pm test?

I also thought the BS was very easy (2 passages were some what difficult). I think the people commenting on the hard BS took the 8am test. But your opinions are pretty much the same as mines, so wondering if you took the 1pm ha.

Also, does anyone know if they post scores early sometimes? I heard that sometimes scores are released a couple days early.

I think it is very unlikely. They almost always release the score on the posted release date 🙁

Hope we get the grade we need....I'm your neighbor from the sept 2 date but we are getting our scores the same day so let's hope for the best guys and remember that retakes are never bad and there are always a second chance

Yes hope we all get good results 👍
Best wishes to everyone!!

I am so scared, and I really don't know how I did in VR. I took educated guess on many questions. ugh... 🙁

Yup, I took the 1PM test! The anxiety is killing me. This is the missing part of my application.

Anyone here applying to osteopathic schools? I am hoping to get into PCOM-GA or NSUCOM.

Is there any reason why this thread is so much smaller than all the other test dates? Was Sept 1 just a small test date? Is that good or bad for us?

There was no morning session for this test date. So, that cut out a significant amount of individuals.

As for it being good or bad... you will find out in 9 days.

We are in the single digits people!!! :scared:

There seems to be two versions of the scaling thing, one is pre-scaled and the other depends on how everyone does....not sure which one is true🙁

One more week guys! Kinda freaking out right now haha.

Its kind of annoying because the more time that passes the less I remember the test material, the less confident I am in how I did on the exam. I know that I cant change anything at the moment, but I am still supremely frustrated by this progressive doubtfulness and anxiety.

Hoping for the best!

I feel like I did 10+ in PS and BS. VR seemed like an 8. So I'm expecting 28 minimum if VR doesn't go below 8. If I hit my VR practice average of 10 I'll most likely score over 30 🙄

We are in the same boat! Already applied to these schools, just waiting on this silly score now...:scared:

I think this is officially the shortest official MCAT threat yet! Lets hope this is a good sign!
