Hello all,
I am interested in joining an MPH program. I had a couple of questions I was hoping someone might know the answer to. I am interested in doing an online program. Does anyone know of good, fully accredited online programs? What effect will it have if you join a program like say the one at AT Still, which is not completely accredited? Do all MPH programs require a thesis? Thankyou for any information!

Check out hopkins program. I believe there's one track that's entirely online...

Check out the document: http://www.asph.org/UserFiles/MPH2_onlyDLMPHsNEW.pdf or something similar. I don't know how up-to-date it is.

There's a few programs that come to mind: Emory University, University of Massachusetts, and University of South Carolina. All of these schools have accredited distance programs.

Personally, I would opt for an accredited degree, especially if I thought I would ever be employed by a university or government agency. People in these types of institutions like to see accredited degrees.

Finally, a thesis is program specific, depending on the program's focus. Most MPH programs probably require only some type of project/presentation or practicum. These programs are usually designed to be very practical, giving you what you need to graduate and start leading some project. Other programs, like MSPH, are more research focused and try to prepare the student for doctoral work in public health. These programs will probably require a thesis.

As I obsessively look for "future jobs" as in after MPH, I would advise going to an accredited school. Most USA govt jobs I have looked into specify they are seeking candidates with MPHs from accredited schools, which is surprising they'd specify, but they really do... look on USA Jobs. Good luck!
