and to PD. my kids actually like me and I haven't had a single kid disrepect me. my motto is if I treat them like adults, they'll be adults. too many subs go in there and not like the kids. and plus they're all over 50... kids don't like that.

 my sixth grades are the same way. They complain for days anytime I get an "old" sub. So I try to stick with the cute young ones 😛

i have it book marked but i don't know how to use them, please teach me!

right click on the smilie then go to "properties" to get the url address of the image. It's usually in gif format. Then copy/paste the image into SDN, using the img tag instructions I gave earlier.

Then you end up with pictures like this:

it took me awhile to get it.

you have to put
after the link

to get the link, right click on hte smilie pic and go to properties, then take the url from the popup box

for example, the boxing one has a link of: http://www.hepcnet.net/bbssmilies/boxing.gif so it becomes
url]
(without the spaces, i just put them there so you could see what it looked like without it turning into a smilie)

Dope, all other things being equal, I'd go with Norfolk. I used to live there when I was in the Marine Corps. It was a fantastic place to live, especially if you're single. Beaches are excellent (for the East Coast 😉 ) and easily accessible and the airport is a joy to fly in/out of, especially compared to the bigger hubs like O'Hare.

Ooohhh.... lots of sexy Marines and sailors in Norfolk...
😍

haha. i love all the funky icons 😍

but, i thought i'd pay homage to the OP and post a "versus" question of my own.

Jefferson vs. BU

anyone have any definitive opinions? lower cost of living in philadelphia (and I actually like Philadelphia a lot). but, as a former BU SMP student, i wouldn't have to take half the first-year med classes if I went to BU. and Boston seems to be a better place to meet students outside of med school (in case the class starts to get stifling). based on what i know, they seem to have similar reps and match lists. anyone know differently?

haha! Pay homage to me :meanie: I command thee!

I personally liked BU more than Jefferson. I'm not entirely sure why either. Perhaps, like you, my focus is more on location but favoring Boston instead. Not having to take a bunch of MS1 classes sounds nice... very enticing.

Yeah, Norfolk sounds a little more like my kind of town. 'Cept I do like the snow and they've got a lot of that in Chicago.... hmmm.... We'll see after a 2nd round of visitations.

Hey Evo Devo,

Which city did you prefer Va. Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, or some other Hampton Roads town?

How expensive is it? Lots of traffic? Is the commute from Va. Beach to Norfolk tough?

Did you ever take classes at ODU or Tidewater?

So I'd be curious as to people's feelings about Case v. U of Rochester. I dug both schools and I'm not aware of any objective factors that could push me one way or another. I liked Rochester as a city a bit more than Cleveland. All things being equal (are they?), it may just come down to the feeling I get when I go back to visit both schools in April.

i'm deciding between trying to get off the waitlist at Northwestern or going to NYU or USC. If I could get in to Northwestern their hospital is great, in a great area of town and my family lives in Chicago. I'm not too sure about PBL though. As for NYU, living in New York would be a lot of fun, lots of student groups, and Bellevue is a great teaching hospital, but NYC is a very expensive city to live in and I wouldn't be looking forward to living in a dorm. USC - great weather, easier to get a california residency, and i'm interested in working with hispanic speaking populations, but I've heard there isn't much academic support and USC is probably the least "prestigious" out of the three, but I'm not sure if that small difference would matter in the long run. Anything thoughts???? THanks!! 😳

Stay on the waitlist at Northwestern regardless. It sounds like that is your first choice; you were certainly most enthusiastic about it in your post. Since the only things that you listed about USC that you liked were the patient population and weather, I'd drop them and go with NYU. I have no doubt that you'd get a major hispanic population at Bellevue. My feeling about the expense issue is that we're borrowing heavily against the future regardless. If you feel as though you'd be happier in NY, accept them, drop USC, and hope for Northwestern to come though.

I don't know much about U. of Rochester, but Case is a very heavily research driven institution. If that's the direction in which you want to go, you can't do much better. I don't remember why I didn't pick U Rochester when I was hunting for schools, but I definitely picked Case for the research.

all the best,
