I've always been interested in reading a letter or notification and seeing if I can tell by ONLY the first sentence of part of the first sentence what the rest of the letter will in form me. Well I've gotten 9 rejection letters so far. They always start as follows:
"Thank you for your interest....."
"After careful review...."
"Thank you for applying..."
"We want to thank you for your interest"
"We have completed our interviews..."
"The review and selection process is complete..."
"Due to the number of applications received...."
Well I finally got a definate "MAYBE" that totally caught me off guard. Definately looked like a rejection (and it may ultimately be a rejection). And it went like this, "Thank you for your interest in Univ. of ABC Otolaryngology Residency Program. Our program is currently in the review process. All applicants will receive their status via email or US mail no later than 12/6. Warm Regards, Otolaryngology Residency Program, ABC Univ."
So, I'm taking that as a MAYBE.
