I was just wondering why people think scores like 19/19/19 are pretty good in this forum.

As you all can see, 90% of people's scores are like 23/23/23 and 3.8 or 3.9 GPA at www.predents.com.

Then, how come scores like 19/19/19 can be good scores in this forum??

By the way, i heard that retakers tend to have lower scores than the 1st time. Is that true?? If it is so, why is that???

Predents is not a representative sample of the entire applicant pool across the United States.

Totally agree. Not everyone on sdn is on predents...only ppl proud of their scores show off on predents.... and for fair reasons!!!

Besides, if you look at the avg DAT scores that most schools accept, it is around 19-20. See doctoothace post for those stats.

Good to see that you're setting high standards for yourself

To better understand you need to look at the frequency tables. For 2007 there were only 126 that had scores of 23 and above in TS and 73 in AA. Scores of 19 and above for TS were obtained by ~30% of the applicants. For AA the number was ~26%. Even with 12K+ of applicants there aren't enough to meet the ~4600 quota needed. You must tell us where you saw 90% of the applicants in predents with scores of 23/23/23 because even schools like Harvard and Columbia do not show those numbers. With a mean DAT score of 19.43 it means that about 1/2 of 2007 enrollees had an AA score 19.43. So yes, a score of 19/19/19 is pretty competitive.
Those who retake the DAT do have a lower DAT scores. see http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=400209
As to why, fill in the blank.

Precisely, and neither is SDN for that matter.

Keep in mind that if you do well, you're more likely to post your scores up. Also, the people that search out places like SDN and predents will also tend to be people that are trying to prepare themselves more than the average applicant. 19/19/19 are good scores to have... not as good as a few years ago unfortunately as things are getting more competitive all the time, but you can definitely get in with those and a decent GPA.
