I am an IMG, I failed at step three twice last year, I am planing to take it on the begining of September before the Interviews for residency programs start. I am willing to get a residency in Family Practise, Do you think that the third trial of Step III (if I would pass it this time!!) is going to ban me from getting a good chance in residency?
I did volunteer work during the last three months at a hospital but I didn't get any chance in being in touch with any clinical experiance, I dealt with paperwork of patient charts and worked as a liaison for the patients.

Anybody would give me an idea about how good are my chances in being accepted at a residency program? if I would pass the Step III?

Actually, my friend is an IMG from Czech and failed Step 3 3 times but still managed to get a residency position in dermatology. He was a high level researcher with a Nobel laureate back home, however, and we suspect he was also having an affair with the program director so who knows....in your case, though, if you continue to prove to be sincere in your efforts (which your volunteer efforts seem to prove you to be) and can pass it this time around you shouldn't have a problem considering the great shortage in primary care these days....best of luck!
