🙁 First time taking it. Took Princeton Review class all summer, very disappointed...

8 VS
9 PS
9 BS
S WS

26S

First take....freakishly low score (for me) on the VR. I was murdering VR on old AAMC 3-9, and I'm an English major...I needed VR to push me closer/over 30.

Don't know what I will do now.

i'm sorry, new to this mcat thing. whats the R, S, etc. behind the score mean?

=( =( =(

10 physical
05 verbal
12 biology

=*(

can i get into d.o.? I have a 3.8 and 3.85 science

I got 10P 6V 13B = 29Q. I'm so depressed with my VR score. I don't know if I should retake. I'm most likely not going to get another 13 in biological sciences again if I do. I thought I'd at least get a 7. I guess my not being a native english speaker affected me a ton in VR. I dunno what to do now.

jv,
your bio score is awesome and your phys is very good as well. since english is your second language, adcoms will probably let that fly. Apply this cycle. You'll get in somewhere.

25O

9 VR, 8 BS, 8 PS

Already accepted to UMiami med school though so can't complain.

Sorry I am super upset about my 24O

6 VR, 10 BS, 8 PS

I am a Florida resident and would love to get into UM. How did you get in already?

Hi all

Undergrad here, 1st MCAT score, 09 V 10 PS 10 BS P WS
pretty balanced, but I was getting 30-32 on practice tests, so I am pretty disappointed here. I have some really good references, and have published two papers (one of them in a relatively important journal) as an undergraduate researcher. Science GPA is 3.3, overall GPA is 3.5.

Anyone want to tell me what my chances are at an average medical school? I live in Ohio, and I am thinking/hoping I still have a decent shot at an interview from a place like Wright State, NEOUCOM, or MUO. Anyone want to speculate for me?

P08 (!) V11 B10 = 29Q.

I'm so bummed, it's smack bang in the middle of my practice scores, but I was hoping to do better. Guess I just got screwed over by my weakest part: physical. How does it look to med schools since my highest is verbal and my PS is so weak?

DOn't they have an certain MCAT score you have to get eventually in order to keep your medical scholars status?

yeah but that goes into effect for students entering undergrad the year after me. It's a 26 for me. I just have to take it so I lucked out.

25O

9 VR, 8 BS, 8 PS

Already accepted to UMiami med school though so can't complain.

I wished i had a state school to go to. 25M, 3.4 GPA. I guess i would have to apply again next year and retake the mcat.

I retook. Before I had a 24Q (7VR, 8PS, 9BS) and now I got a 27R (9VR, 8ps, and 10BS). Can't really complain though because at least it was an improvement. I hope USF will give me a shot. I have a stellar GPA (3.89 overall and a 3.85 BCPM). I hope that makes up for the less then par MCAT!

29T

8 phys
11 verbal
10 Bio

T writting sample

I wish i could of scored in the 99th percentile in something that actually counted for something. Thats what I get for being a Philosophy major: a T on the writing section and an 8 on the physical sciences.

Good luck to everyone

I see your 20P and raise you an 18M.

I are dumb. 🙁

I feel your pain.

I'm trying to decide if I'm going to even try to retake in January or wait longer. I wanted to apply to KCOM, but Feb 1 is the deadline and I wouldn't have my score by then.

I hate the mcat.

Guys

I just want to point out that you guys shouldn't be too down on yourselves. 1st of all many of your scores aren't bad at all. 2nd of all from what I can tell much, much more goes into an applicant than their MCAT score. If you plan on re-taking, then do so with the confidence that youre only going to get better. And don't think that you are dumb at all. The MCAT is a tough, tough test that I can attest to. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, BrianUM. 🙂

I'm hoping the 5 allopathic schools I already applied to will grant me some leniency when they see my low PS score. But I feel that I am competitive for the DO schools, and I'm going to high-tailed it that direction. I'm praying for the best.

Dont worry everyone! You did awesome. Ive said this in many threads now, it is possible to move up a lot. I did it, so for sure anyone can. Trust me! Good job all! Be happy🙂

13 V, 5 P, 7 B, R. 25 total.

I never, ever studied verbal or writting. I spent all 3 month on the rest. I truely believe that there might be something wrong with my brain.

S.

3VR,12ps,12bs ----> 27

seriously, I cant fawking read.

like said before, it is probably on of the hardest undergrad-level exams on the planet, so even if you feel an 18 is low, it is still NOT easy to score an 18!

There is NOTHING wrong with your brains! lol!

Know where you need to improve, and find an EFFECTIVE way to do just that. Try another approach to preparing if one way didn't work.

GOOD LUCK!

11VR,7PS,11BS

Seriously, should I bother applying or wait for to retake? Rather unbalanced (my score, not myself). I have a 3.8 gpa....

I have a similar situation, but I already submitted my AMCAS and secondaries (spent close to 3000 dollars so far, Im hoping for a couple of interviews.

Verbal 11
Phys 8
Bio 10

Writing T

I shot myself in the foot for any of the competitive schools, Im just hoping to get an interview or two from my state schools, I have a 3.65 so my GPA is pretty average as well I was banking on low to mid 30s.

You cant always get what you want.

HELP! Should I retake the MCATs?

7 Verbal
12 Physical Sciences
11 Bio
M Writing

hi all. my first post....needed to vent after getting my scores. just not so spiffy! well below 30.

i have a question about taking the january mcats. are there ANY schools in the country that will even look at january scores? i'm pretty sure the answer is no, but just want to make sure with you all experts. i googled on that and found a school in singapore that accepts jan scores...praying that there is one or two stateside that will also do that!!

thanks guys.

p.s. chocolate is the only thing that will help me get through this. get some!

i am so disappointed with my scores i could puke. i actually went down from the first time i took the test! the first time i took it, i wasn't prepared at all. this time around i studied a lot more and my f___ing score went down. i noticed a lot of people including myself got low verbal scores. wtf??

congratulations to all of those who did well. good luck to you. i am thinking of giving it up actually. who knows where to go from here... 🙁

Ah, I see this is where I should be...

This is my first time taking, so I think I will retake in Jan or Apr ... I am challenged to do better now!

Thats what I get for being a Philosophy major: a T on the writing section and an 8 on the physical sciences.

I hear you ... Business major here... Still, VR could've been better!

Okay so this was my first mcat experience...really put all i had into it through the entire summer 25Q. 8 physics, 8 verbal, 9 bio. took kaplan tests and ended at 30 and felt pretty good. horrible testing center- lawn mowing all through the physics and verbal really messed me up. EXTREMELY disappointed. I have a 3.9 gpa and these scores really don't reflect me as a student (research and clinical exp ect). should i even try applying with these scores?????? or will admissions just laugh at me?
desperate need of advise. thank you so much.

I got a 28M. M! That sucks, because I took it twice before and got P and Q. I consistently do better on Verbal--11V 9BS 8PS--and I always suck on PS. I improved from the last times, but only because I didn't study those times (stupid, I know). I spent a lot of time studying so I was hoping to get in the 30s...oh well. Nothing I can do now.

Cookie, with a 3.9 GPA and research/clinical, I'd apply. It can't hurt and some schools might even look past a non-exceptional MCAT score (at least that's what I'm hoping!).

There are some - I want to say NYMC was one of them. I would call the individual schools you are applying to and ask.

I got the same exact score but breakdown was little bit different. 11PS 10BS 7VR. could someone give me a suggestion whether to apply or not?? Even I am heavily into research spent 2 summers working in bio and chem labs.

VR-10 PS-08 BS-08 =26O
GPA:3.60

So anyone what are my chances? Do I even have a shot at med school?

Bosox and Spicedmanna, looks like PS is our greatest evil. I hated that d*&n section. I knew it had me when Physics 1 stuff kept showing up and I was praying for just a little bit of magnetism and waves, or hell even optics!
