A W in SMP

How bad does it look if you have a W on your masters program transcript? I had to withdraw a dental school course that i took recently and did not do to well on the midterm and took the W instead of just risking it. Thoughts?

It looks just as bad if not worse than a W in uGrad. The whole point of doing a SMP was to show adcoms that you can handle the courseload in DS (since you prob didn't do so hot in uGrad). Dropping a course, unless you got As in everything else, goes directly against that.

I do have mostly As and only 2 Bs and now one W. Do you think i still have a chance?

You're asking a question no one can answer. Just assume AdComs will look at your W as a C or lower and just do you best to make up for it.

In my opinion, a grade of W looks MUCH better than a poor grade. People may have to withdraw from classes for a variety reasons, not only because they were doing poorly in them, so admissions would not automatically assume that is the reason why. I think if admissions is concerned about it, they may ask you to explain the situation during the interview process, but I don't think it is something to stress too much over!
