Okay, I did my research and found nothing really related to what I want to touch base on in regards to my friends criminal record.

Here goes. My friend has somewhat of a background. However , he is still able to get jobs in the hospital and anywhere else that requires background checks, and does fine there without any issues about his background. He doesnt have any sexual offenses, no alcohol related charges , nor drug related of any kind. Unfortunately, when he was young he used to get in alot of fights and was arrested for a couple fights he had and put on probation before. (yes he was pretty naughty back in the day, but hey thats what happens when you grow up in the mean streets of los angeles.) Other than that he has been pulled over a couple times and was delinquent on a couple of tickets, and thats about it . He is definitely a changed man now, and the only reason he is so today is because maturity decided to kick in, and, of course, his passion for pharmacy and working with people.

So under those circumstances, can he still get into a pharmacy program? By the way I did some research for him , and just wanted to see what you guys take on the matter was.

"I'm a hustler, I hustle" lol jk.

He should be ok, as long as it's nothing super serious.

Tell him to check with the state board about his past. If they say everything is kosher, he's golden. If not tell him to find a lawyer to expunge his record.

sorry for the stupid question, whats the state board? or which state board for that matter?

Sorry, I was talking about the state board of pharmacy. Each state has it's own board of pharmacy that regulates the practice of pharmacy within that state. It also licenses all pharmacies, pharmacists, and pharmacy techs. Each state has different laws that regulate the practice of pharmacy so it depends on the state your friend wants to practice in if they can get licensed with their past. If the state board doesn't care about past transgressions, then the schools in that state most likely won't care either. But, just to be sure, you can anonymously call the school with the situation and see what they say about it.

PS: It's cliche, but no question is a stupid question. When I first got into pharmacy I had no clue about the state board. 😉

Does he have felonies or misdemeanors? What type?

I don't think Board of Pharmacy asks about arrests. Just convictions.

If these offenses occured when he was under 18, i think he has a right to "seal" them.

okay we went a step further . We just purchased a criminal check from the dmv.org the dmv uses intelius. We conducted a nationwide, state and federal, criminal check for sex offenses and everything under the sun etc. everything looks squeaky clean. But now im just wondering about the validity of intelius. Im just going off assumptions that if we check his background on the dmv website that it should be detailed than other sites out there. .. what you guys think??

Intelius goes by public records, which sometimes can be inaccurate and incomplete. For example, two people with same names can be confused etc.

CA board of pharmacy uses live scan, which checks records of CA department of justice and FBI.

Here is more info about.

http://ag.ca.gov/fingerprints/pdf/LiveScanPacketRev06.pdf

He can do a Live scan on himself if he wishes.

look under this site under "criminal record review"

we searched by social security number with intelius. But the live scan sounds more promising. We will definitely check into the state board as well. thanks for the feedback guys. if theres more suggestions, or tips please keep them rolling thanks alot.

My step brother is a lawyer and he has told me that ALL of those websites are inaccurate with the information they have and should not be trusted. If your friend was arrested, those will be on his record unless they were before age 18 and he was charged as a minor. If you go by what I mentioned earlier, this will tell you if your friend needs to worry and obtain the services of a lawyer to expunge his record. I know the state board of Texas does both a local and FBI search when they are researching us for our intern licenses. As for how deep they looked into our record when I applied, I don't know if it went further than local or NCIC.

yea thx alot for the advice, we will definitely take a look into it. Hope things will be ok. but for the most part most of it was before he was 18.

in the state of Texas it is under the age of 17. 17 is still considered an adult.

Where I work I am the person who does these checks on people for officers and judges. In order to get an official acurate record, go to the state police and tell them you want a criminal history check done in NCIC (checks for warrants and probation status), NLETS (called a triple I-checks national criminal hx..any thing in the FBI database will show up here), and your state criminal records (checks only local criminal hx) There is usually a fee of 25$ or so and there are many reasons why things do or do not show up on the record. I highly doubt the unpaid tickets will show up unless they were a "summons" ticket but those would have ended up in a warrant for his arrest for FTA (failure to appear). Also much of the motor vehicle stuff doesn't show up depending on if anyone was injured as a result. If he was a juvenile at the time of any arrest it will never show up, and keep in mind, some of these agencies are backed up by up to three years so it may not be entirely acurate if the convictions were recent (not the arrest). Arrests that were nollied do not show up unless another charge from the same incident was a conviction-this results in all charges coming up whether he was actually convicted or not (even though they will say nollied next to them) Some charges come off the record after a few years as well. The only way to know for sure is to get it from the state police. Good luck 🙂
