So I am a older student and without going into too much details, some of my courses got shifted from Science to Non science and are incorrectly categorized. Has anyone in the past had success disputing a GPA

For example, a Developmental Biology Class (previously applied and accepted as that) is now being categorized as Biology

Another example, a Public Health Promotions course got recategorized to Health Education.

I also have several other courses taken from 2005 (way back when the internet was not as fasionable 🙁 ) with courses that I have provided descriptions for .

Anybody in the past had success?

I did. Just shoot them an email with the course description. It took about 5-7 business days. The bad news is that they don't alert schools you have already submitted to of the changes, so you'll have to email admissions at each school directly to let them know that your calculated GPA is now different.

Hey, I'm going through the same thing. They denied my appeal but I'm trying until they finally grant it. It would make a difference of 0.4 if they correct it to my AMCAS GPA. Also, I tried discussing this with a specific school and they told me they have to go off of AACOMAS, so they can't grant me an exception.

Are you sure this is the case? Even if you press "update application"?

For me its like I received my master's degree and all my classes are public health courses and should be deamed as public health...but somehow are designated as HEALTH EDUCATION. And i took a course called Function and developmental biology which I labeled DEVELOPMENTAL Biology and got placed as BIOLOGY. Seems minor but its so many credits that are being placed in my NON science GPA and my science gpa as low while DEVELOPMENTAL should stay as NON science GPA. Annoyed to say the least. I emailed them twice with no avail. When I contacted them they said it would be 24 hours. It has now been a full week

Same thing happened to me. I had to bug them a few times and never receive an email when they did finally make the correction, so you might want to re-download your completed application to double check if that has been changed already.

Did you bug them via phone or email?

Best Regards!

Tried 3x to appeal an incorrectly calculated sGPA and they denied it each time. I don't know what to do now, I got screened out because of my incorrectly low sGPA and schools are telling me I have to have the change corrected on AACOMAS to proceed

What class was it and how is it classified? Did you try sending in a course syllabus with an expanded course description?

Math/stats classes aren't viewed as sGPA for DO. I assume any epidemiology type classes aren't either. If it's something like that I don't think you have a leg to stand on.

They were biology classes under the psych department. And yeah, I sent in syllabi, course descriptions, and reasoning for why I think they should be science classes

Huh that's odd. I was able to get them to list a neuro class and a genetics class as so even though they were listed as Psych classes

Bummer. I also had a Biological Psychology course categorized as non-sGPA.

Can you maybe look for a Summer Session II online course (maybe through a CC) to try to bump up your sGPA?

I was considering this; thanks for the suggestion. The school that screened me out agreed with how my courses should be categorized and wants me to keep fighting with AACOMAS, but I'm not sure if they'll grant the change at this point.

can you cc the email sent by the school to aacomas

A neurology class, molecular neurobio class, and a general neurobio class
I just did get 4 of my 5 classes changed. But I had to provide very detailed reasoning. Try again. It doesnt hurt. But resubmit as a brand new with as much detail as you can. Also i would just also suggest taking another class
