aacpmas 2016/2017 cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I had my application sent back to me because I missed a withdrawn course. How do I put it in? Their FAQ does not specify as to what I put in. This is how I did it--> Class, 0 credits, W. It then wont allow me to save my class. So not sure if I am doing anything right.

Congratulations!! Just wondering if you applied to Jan or September class and did you submit your LORs yet?
Applied for September! Haven't submitted LORS, they take them by email so I'll probably do it a week or so before I interview. I'm planning on August 31st! Two days after classes start so hopefully my professors are cool with me missing a day or two

If you think you did it correct and it comes back I would make a call to customer service. They are very helpful and will make sure you do it right the second time.

For credits, I think it's credit hours, not earned credits. So if it was a 3 or 4 credit course then that's what you put for credit. The grade is the multiplier that shows what you earned in the class. It wasn't a 0 credit course.

Two contradictory answers Lol but in the FAQ it says I should enter the initial withdrawn course as 0.00, however I did not repeat this course. I finally got to save it and resubmit it, but I'll still call.

@ Dr. Bob you seem to know everything lol,
Where can I find more interview questions for NYCPM apart from the "interview feedback?" That only listed about 4 questions and I'm having trouble finding other threads with questions. I'm a mess lol getting the interview was exciting for 10 seconds and now I'm just wildly nervous again.

Just post the correct info once you find out

Look again under interview feedback. There should be a "show more" option once you're at the page with the questions and answers about what specific questions were asked. There should be a lot more than four questions.

Same but I guess since its electronic the schools could view it right away! Swear I'm not making it up lol
I can attest. Called Temple and they said that once you are verified, they take approximately 24 hours to tell you if you get an interview or not.

For those who are getting invites do you already have letters of recommendation and everything else done?

Congrats for the interview invite. I just submitted my application for NYCPM Jan class. Still waiting for the recommendation letters, though. Are you from NY? All the best!

Nope not from NY! I heard they focus a lot on your transition to the city in the interview so thank goodness I'm from Philadelphia!

For the transcripts, did you guys contact your institution(s) directly and have them send it to AACPMAS, or did you actually print out the transcript request forms and mail it and then your schools sent?

So then that means your rec letter(s) did not play a role in your interview invite, right?

I contacted my institution for transcripts because it has to be in a signed and sealed envelope with a special paper inside.

And correct, my interview did not have to do with my recs however I'm sure they still want them because it's listed as a requirement

Sounds good. How long did it take for AACPMAS to verify everything after your submitted your app? I think ideally its around 4 weeks or so, but I have also added the professional transcript entry so that may take extra time.

I ordered the transcripts from the undergrad colleges and faxed them the cover page from AACPMAS. AACPMAS received them in about 2 weeks. Be sure to check if your institution participates in the E - transcript system supported by AACPMAS, it will make the transition faster (within a few days I think).

I contacted my institution, had them mail it out for me. I gave them the request form and they sent it off!

My transcripts were finally received now everything is verified. Now the waiting game!

Going to shadow a POD all day and observe a surgery, life is good!!

Congrats! Do you mind sharing your stats?

once received it took maybe 3/4 days to verify

That was quick. Do you mind sharing stats and how long verification took once transcripts were in etc

Much appreciated and congrats

My transcript was received yesterday at 11:00 am and was verified this morning at 7:00 am.
Hope that helps 🙂

Current universities had transcript sending services electronically and option for snail mail.

Used the University system to send transcripts. My current grad school had an iffy system (no option to send to testing services like AACPMAS) so I went into their office in person and requested specific instructions.

They got it sent and received by AACPMAS within 4-6 business days no problem.

Dang, transcripts verified within 24 hours?

I sent mine Aug. 9th and it still says "Verifying".

Will give them a call after work today.

The #1 question your going to get is how do you know you want to spend 4 years in podiatry school, 3 years in a residency, and practice for the rest of your life in a career you've never observed in person. Which is why I think you should hold off since your early in the cycle.

I had this problem, try reaching out to your primary care physician or another physician you have a connection with to refer you. Contact the schools you plan on applying and ask for advice or if they have any active alumni in your area that can help out. Contact family/friends in cities a couple hours away you can stay at for a couple days and get some shadowing done. most of the time private practice is easier to shadow since its less paperwork than hospitals. Expand your search if your looking in a town.

Your still early in the application cycle. If you want to apply early get everything filled out and have your application ready to send off. But you may want to include some form of podiatric experience in your personal statement/resume after you've shadowed.
I shadowed a podiatrist and got a letter. But the letter didn't seem like much of a recommendation. It just confirmed what I did during shadowing and what questions I asked. Do you think that will be enough. Also, is october too late to get in my application? Also (last question i swear), if I had my professors physically mail in my letters of recommendation before I submitted my application, will the schools just keep them on file and combine it with my application once I submit it? burning questions any response is helpful.

People get accepted through the spring so October is by no means late. A lot of schools told me that the letter just has to confirm shadowing so I'd say its fine. Your other recommendations will pull for you. And yeah if I understand correctly they start a file when they receive something

Hey call them, if you haven't already. I sent my application in on the 3rd and it still said verifying. I called and they said there was a "bug" on my application and it will be fixed. 24 hours later I was verified and got an interview for New York!

Oh shiz lol.

On my lunch break right now. Glad you sent this cause I was sitting here looking up their number and was gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and wait the "4 weeks" or so -_-;

Gonna call them right now lol

Does verification of transcript depend on if you've uploaded your personal statement?

In other words, will they keep it on "Verifying" if I havn't uploaded personal statement?

Just got an interview invite from temple 🙂 gonna be hard to choose between that and nycpm

I think you do have to have everything in. I have had my personal statement in before I sent my transcripts in so I am not sure.

CONGRATS I'll probably be there last week of September I have so much travel planning to do
I took an entire day to plan flights and hotels as well as taking a trip to see the Statue of Liberty!

Correct. Called them and they said I had to have everything and submit before they start verifying.

For some reason I was under the impression verification of transcript occurs as soon as they received it. -_-

Thank you so much man. Knowing this really sped things up for me!

I got an interview there too!! I'll be doing the interview on September 7th!

Congrats! Mind sharing your stats? Didnt realize my science gpa was so low. BTW if you disagree with certain calculations, can you let them know or something?
