So are some schools giving out invites with only MCAT scores and transcripts?

Chillax dawg. It takes a few weeks. Regardless, you'll be one of the first to be verified and submitted so it doesn't really matter. Everyone else is in line behind you and thinking the same thing. It's a process, which sucks, but it'll all be behind you soon enough.

I see everyone is applying already on this thread and I will be applying in October after my MCAT score comes in. I am getting nervous about whether or not thats too late. I have a 3.2 gpa and hope to get 500 on the MCAT. Are those stats october worthy? lol

I'm trying to schedule all my interviews in one week. Is that too crazy?
so far i'm thinking kent on the 27th, nyc on the 29th, temple on
I am so sorry to hear that! I wish it was different for you. Hopefully there are more interviews?!

Of course

Edit: dunno why Plant based comment was quoted lol

October is not late in the cycle for Podiatry. You can apply after January of next year and can still get in. It would be in your best interest to apply as early as you can though.

Was anyone else aware that sgpa doesn't include math? I thought this was only the case for dentistry.

Pretty much almost all schools will do that. Based on schools I applied for, Scholl was the only school that wanted LORs along with your stats before getting an interview invite.

So when do they want the ECs and LOR? do you discuss these in the interview if they don't have them? I'm kind of in a rush to shadow and stuff after my mcat in a couple weeks.. so just curious

During your interview, let them know that you are going to shadow a podiatrist sometime in the future. They should tell you that you will need to submit a LOR before school starts if you get accepted (not 100% sure on this. I had my LORs when I applied).

I would imagine that your interview would be a little more difficult though. It would be hard to answer "why podiatry" if you don't have any shadowing experience. Make sure you prepare yourself for the interview.

how late is February - Mayish?

I'm really concerned about this.

MCAT IS in January and I'll need semester grades from Spring '17 to be factored into the calculations. Those grades won't come out until around May.

I'm I going to make it, or is that too late?

(P.S. the app has already been started and I'm just submitting the individual items as they become ready)

Obviously most seats and scholarship money will be taken up by then, but people do still get accepted up through the close of the cycle. You'll probably be more limited to the larger schools by that point though.

Submitted: 08/10
Verified: 08/15
Invitation to Interview: 08/19!

I'm super excited. For those who already interviewed, what did it like? What kind of questions did they ask? And how should I get ready for my interview next month?

Did ya already send them your rec letters?

I called Kent State a day after my app was verified. I was told that my file will only be looked at when they receive everything (MCAT, LORs). So I guess they did receive everything.
I did my part on contacting my college advisor and a podiatrist to send in their letters. I didn't personally send them in myself.

Hope it helps!
Good luck on your application!

Awesome thank you!! Just electronically sent my LORS so hopefully I hear next week

Best of luck to all applicants this cycle! great to see a lot of activity on this thread early. there's not too much more I can add as I think lots of ppl i know from last cycle are active, including the all seeing and resourceful bobtheweasel. the only thing i can offer is if anyone needs specifics as I was definitely one of the later applicants last year or needs perspective comparisons as I interviewed at 5 different schools in 2.5 weeks span before ultimately making a final decision. Do your best, don't take any interview lightly and I expect to see more good news as the cycle carries on!

How do you guys suggest defending a lower mcat. I received a 493. Obviously a four month class is more indicative than a 7 hour exam, but I don't want to sound like I'm making excuses. Nerves play a role but then they could suggest that'll mess up boards. The only other reason that comes to me is a majority of studying took place during the school year so I was juggling that and a full schedule of 18 credits

I'm confident I can defend myself but I'm reading some of these threads and people are saying how they were ripped apart lol but it's all perspective I guess

Just be honest and own up to it.

I don't know how else you could spin it in a situation like that. And if the school is out to nitpick grades, not much you can do to stop them and you probably aren't the first person for it to happen to.
But seriously, studying MCAT plus 18 credit hr load? They should understand by then. If you've had a history of trouble with standardized testing (I know I did), then maybe mention that as well and the steps you took to improve.

I'm expecting schools to grill me on my low sGPA trend so you're not alone.

True you're right, I feel like if you take ownership before explaining anything else they have to respect you for that. Someone who is quick to defend and name 99 problems not including their own poor planning or something probably has something to hide aka not studying lol

Yo this thread is lit thanks for everyone addressing my needy concerns lol

i had this exact question asked bc my very first mcat was bad. i owned up to it, told them about nerves i felt and how the pacing threw me off, and then used the experience as fuel, to really make a solid improvement on the retake. the key i felt going through 5 interviews was to never think negatively about any Q of concern they ask. they have the right to ask and it's best to think that they just wanna make sure you know how to overcome your struggles and that they want you to be successful. turn negatives into a positive.

Dang, they sent me an application review not an invitation haha

All in due time man.

This s*** is nerve-wrecking.

Sometimes I'm telling myself not to get on here or my email account so I can chill out and focus on other stuff haha.

Its like a drug fix or something thinking you'll only get accepted to 1 school. lol

I literally spend my whole day checking this site and my email it's so sad lol

Congrats to all that have some interviews. I have an interviews at Temple and Kent. I'm still trying to get my LORS to Temple. Has anyone used interfolio to send their LORS to Temple? I can't seem to find the podiatry school listed any where under deliveries.

I couldn't find temple, so I did this instead and it worked. It sent it via "e-mail delivery" by just inputting the admissions email ([email protected]) that way it was still only $6. If you need help with that message me.

Just finished my MCAT. Finished first three sections 15 minutes early and finished the psych section 25 min early. I either knew the questions or didn't. The ones I didn't I knew I was missing a price of knowledge so j narrowed it down and moved on. I'll cross my fingers. Hopefully my app is verified and schools interview while I wait for scores.

I am sure you did fine. That test always sucks. Let me know how things go!

Felt the same way.

Either knew it or didn't and narrowed it down to 50/50

I just want to get accepted somewhere, i don't care where.. I'm worried ill apply and get accepted into no where :s

But that's why I've been studying for the mcat so vigorously..

Nervousness shows how important it is to you and therefore you'll be fine and it'll work out! We're all smart people and if we really didn't think we'd have a shot, none of us would apply. Let the nerves motivate you not bring you down!!🙂

I think we just need to put it on the back burner and focus on other stuff.

No point stressing out now when you've submitted and done your best right?

There's gonna be more to worry about once we get in, and more to worry about once we start scrambling for residencies.

Just go with the flow and focus on school and life in general while we still can.

Any thoughts on the tuition (state Vs. out of state) for the schools? I want to apply to other schools besides NYCPM, but it sure adds 10-15K more per term!

I thought some of the schools had the same instate/out of state tuition?
Might be wrong. Lemme do some digging and get back to you.

I'm in one of the states that doesn't have a school so s*** out of luck regardless lololol

Yeah, they might but only one is stating that on their site (DMU). See the list below. The extra $$ will be from the dorming/renting car..etc.

AzPod: $40,270--BarryU: $38,960--Cali-Samuel Merritt: $39,477--DMU- tuition is same for state vs. out of state: $33,202
KSU-CPM: (in state) $36,114.00--NYCPM: $31,968--Scholl College-CPM: 35,955--TempleU: Pennsylvania residents: $35,564, Out-of-state residents: $37,156--WesternU: $36,590.00

Would I include all the semesters I was on the Dean's List as an "award'? Also, would research be considered employment or an extracurricular activity? I was not paid for it. And where can I add any publications/presentations?
