AAMC practice tests; did your score average score increase over time?

I've taken 3 AAMC practice exams so far to get ready for my May 27th MCAT, and I've been getting roughly the same score. However, I want to score about 3 or 4 points higher on the real thing.

Did anyone see a increase in their scores as they continued to take practice exams? If so, how much? Is it possible to increase my score by 3 or 4 points by taking the rest of the AAMC exams and thoroughly reviewing each one?

Yes. My first full length before I started my studying I got a 25 (Kaplan). After studying, I got a 30 (Kaplan). Next one, a 34 (Kaplan). Then a 32 (AAMC). Then a 34 again (AAMC).

Yes, you should definitely take all available AAMC tests. I think there were 7 tests available back when I was prepping. On the first practice test I got a 27. On the last practice test I got a 35. Upward trend across the series. Keep on those practice tests! 😀

Mine shot up due to studying (took the first 2 before most of my studying) Also your improved test taking skills after taking a few should bump you up a few points

One week before I took the MCAT, I took an AAMC practice exam for each day. My score went up somewhat from one test to the next. I think the practice tests are definitely EASIER than the real MCAT.

I felt horrible after taking the real test. It seemed much harder than the practices. Just a thought.

I have passed my Series 7 exam recently. During preparation I used Series 7 Preparation App to prepare for the test. The trial has turned out to be very easy for me. I am very happy with results obtained. It is a really good program!

I have been throughly reviewing each exam, and studying immensely in between. I am wondering if the EK books just haven't equipped me with the knowledge I need to take a concept and apply it the way MCAT does. Idk. I am aiming for a 29/30, but my MCAT is in 4 days. I know I'll prob have to void (maybe not but regardless) and retake, which will be July 29. But I am exhausting the AAMC tests and I'm not sure how to get past this plateu. It's extremely frustrating. I mean, I'm spending hours looking over the entire sections and concepts regarding missed questions, and I'm not seeing any improvement =(

Or maybe you're not studying effectively? Have you identified what is it that you're weak on? Maybe it's a topic. Maybe it is with reasoning. Maybe it is with getting sloppy over time. etc. If you don't feel prepared, don't take the MCAT.

After physics content review

AAMC 3: 31 (10-11-10) on 6-1
AAMC 4: 26 (8-8-10) on 6-4 haha bad day
AAMC 6: 34 (13-11-10) on 6-11, the physics was a breeze for some reason

Whats freaking me out, other than the wild inconsistencies in my score, is supposedly the AAMC are alot easier than the actual MCAT.

6: 31 -- I got a 6 on this verbal...haha, ran out of time
7: 32

9: 33 -- Woohoo, so I realize I have a problem with verbal.

And is anyone having problems accessing AAMC today? I can't get in.

You should, however, absolutely go over the questions you missed and guessed on. For me, I remembered those corrections specifically because I hated that I missed those questions. It's worth the 30 minutes or so you'll spend going through a test.

I have definately been doing that. I spend a day in b/t exams to go over the whole scope of the sections I did poorly in, i.e. waves or stoichiometry. But I'm not seeing improvement. It's really beginning to get to me, which I know is expected, but I typically don't struggle like this.

I am wondering if it's the EK books that aren't preparing me, these are what I've been using and what I've re-read b/t practice exams, but then again I'm only getting 9s in bio and EK is supposed to be great for bio. And 8s in PS. I've been doing well in orgo but obviously that's the smallest section of the exam.

I have to take the MCAT but I have a feeling I won't end up scoring it at the end. Which is hard b/c a lot of ppl feel they've done badly regardless so it will be difficult to gauge if I feel I made a 29.

I have AAMC 6 and 10 left. And I'll probbaly buy 5 if I have time before thursday, but I hate that I'm taking these and feel like I'm wasting them b/c I'm not improving. It's not a timing thing, I normally have extra time always leftover, I'm not sure what to alter in my studying of the concepts I missed, I'm dong everything that has been suggested as far as reviewing...

I have been getting 11-12 on both the sciences but only a 5-6 on the verbal section of the AAMC practice tests. I am scheduled to take the exam on June 17th! Don't know what to do...take it not take it? damn

If I were you, I wouldn't take it. Some schools might not even bother with your application because your verbal is so low.
