Hi everyone,

I am in search of an online abnormal psychology course to take over the summer before the start of PT school. Does anyone know of any schools that are offering this at a reasonable rate ? I'm in Texas btw, really doesn't matter where I take the course as long as it's not a insane tuition amount!

Thanks in advance 🙂

Have you checked the community colleges in TX already? Abnormal psych is a very common online offering at most community colleges here in Washington state, not sure how it is there.

May need to be upper division though, so CC might not work. Could depend.

Pretty much any major university is going to have this as an online class I imagine. If your in TX, do your state universities not have it for a sane price? Assuming you're a TX resident of course...

I don't know what the rules are for a TX resident taking an online class in Washington, but the community college I currently attend historically offers abnormal psych online in the summer (Psyc& 220).

They haven't posted the summer 2015 class schedule yet, but if you click on "Annual Class Schedule" on the left hand side, it will take you to a PDF that lists the courses they offer throughout the year, and if they are online or not. Two caveats: I don't know if this class will meet the requirements for whatever programs you are applying to. I have taken Developmental/Lifespan Psych (Psyc& 200) through this school, and it was sufficient for the schools I was applying to. WA state is also largely on a quarter system, while most programs are on semesters, so it can make your credits weird.

I would look into your instate options first for sure.

Do you happen to know what the cost for the class is there ?? And also about how long was the class during the summer?

Between $500 and $600 for a 5 credit class, though it would probably be more if you're not a WA state resident. Summer quarter is usually 8 weeks. I'd make sure that the class would be accepted by your program, and also contact Shoreline to make sure you can get into the class, as well as what it would cost for an out of stater. Is there really no option in TX or OK for you? I think that would be cheaper and more convenient if you could find something local.
