So I just started Destroyer Gen Chem.

Question #2 definitely requires a calculator to get the exact answer. Its a half life question where 0.693 is divided by 3.8x10^6 or something like that.

What I am wondering is: we do not get a calculator on the SNS, right?

If not, how are we going to be able to answer these questions?

No calculator. You need to get good at estimating quickly. Chad's videos share good tips for this in the GC section and the QR section.

For that particular question put 0.693 into scientific notation (6.93 x 10^-1) and you should be able to approximate that close enough for a multiple choice test.

All approx. .693 ~ .7
.7/3.8 is less than .2 since .7/3.5 is .2.
So .7/3.8 ~ .17

.17 * 10^-6 = 1.7 x 10^-7

The correct answer is: 1.82 x 10^-7. I am sure you there aren't too many answer choices like this. FYI Destroyer is a bit harder in the calculations department!

+1. Transforming numbers into scientific notation and rounding up or down numbers is the way to go. And I'm pretty sure you will have to do some simple calculations for the GC section. As for the harder (more time consuming) questions they will just have the answer choices in a unsolved form (e.g. with all the correct numbers plugged into a right equation for example).

P.S. I've read your posts randomly and you're pretty funny... garry > bobby btw.
