Hi, it is a joy to look forward to starting my MPH program in the fall. Moreover, while I am running the race, so to speak, I intend to keep running. So, I am pondering on starting MCAT studies, applying to med school next year...? Is anyone in this position or have gone through such?? Please let me know and thanks muchly in advance!!

Your plan seems promising 🙂. While I personally didn't take that route to get the MD and MPH, the MCAT is definitely hard core, but with persistence, it is manageable. People debate over whether a prep course is beneficial, but it's most critical for you to spend the time and effort to learn the information. When you get to the application process, your MPH will be a great talking point. Good luck!

That is what I did..or should say doing. I have finished 2 out of 3 semesters of my MPH and I am inthe process of applying to schools. when do you plan on taking the MCAT and how many and which classes you are taking will determine exactly when to start studying. PM me if you have more questions.

Thanks thedelicatessen, swim2006 and anyone who responds to my post! Thanks for your encouraging words. I start my MPH program later this month and have already started studying for the MCAT. My thought is to take it in April of 2008, the apply in June. I took the MCAT when it was paper-based and so have some idea on how much of a marathon it is 🙂.
