Hello everyone!

As I have been preparing my application an issue came to my attention that I have no idea how to address. I was in a clinical research internship last summer, and we generated a poster/abstract. Of the two primary authors (I am technically first on the poster), we each submitted to a conference. Our poster was accepted at the conference I submitted to and I did a poster presentation, with no online abstract publication. The other author incorrectly omitted all names but his (I guess assuming it was only necessary to put his when he would be the one presenting; definitely not out of malice) when submitting to the other conference. The poster was still accepted and of course this happened to be one that published the abstract in a supplemental (with PMID/DOI).

I only found this out upon googling the project to find information about the conference I presented at while preparing my application. My co-author did not confer confer the fact the poster was accepted or that the abstract would be published. I reached out to him and asked him to contact the editors of the journal, who just got back and said it couldn't be changed retroactively. They did however link to a virtual version of the poster on the journal's website for the conference that does depict all the authors, including me as the first author. He also agreed to be listed as a contact as necessary to show my involvement.

My question is, how do I handle this? I do not plan on making a separate entry for the publications/poster presentations as this is my only one and the internship is already an MME. Do I include the citation, state there was an authorship error by the person who submitted it which can't be fixed retroactively, and list his contact info and the link to the virtual poster that includes my first authorship? Is there anything I can do to make this not reflect bad on me also? Should I just leave it off?

Thanks!
