Firstly, I'd like to tell all of you that doubted me back when I was a premed that I am currently an MS1 at a TOP TEN IVY LEAGUE medical school. So much for me being too "stupid" and "immature" to be a doctor.
Ok, so I came back to you guys for a little bit of advice. I did alright in undergrad through all of my prereqs, and studied hard for the MCAT and got a pretty good score, but now I'm having a really hard time with my basic sciences classes. I'm failing anatomy and histology 🙁. They put me on academic probation and I'm afraid that I may not make it 🙁🙁🙁🙁
Firstly, I would like some study tips for getting through these tough classes. I never took any advanced sciences in undergrad so any of you premeds or current medical students that got through these challenging classes may be able to offer me a little bit of advice.
Secondly, if my school ends up dismissing me, would I have any grounds for legal action on the statement that they weren't providing me with sufficient instruction and/or remedial help? I've been kind of getting trouble from day one, when I was told in anatomy lab that my nails were too long, and they made me go get a manicure like the next day after I already got one 🙁 . Since then I feel like they sort of have been looking down on me. Do I need to document this now?
Lastly, in the unfortunate situation where I do end up getting dismissed, would I have any luck getting into a foreign medical school? I mean, I have ok grades and a pretty decent MCAT score, so would they refuse to accept me if I get dismissed from a US school?
I'd really appreciate some encouragement and advice on this matter. It's been bothering me all week and it kinda ruined my Thanksgiving. Everyone was asking me why I'm so sad and I was scared to tell them about what's happening to me. I mean, I'm doing awesome in my intoduction to clinical medicine classes, and all of my preceptors are always complimenting me, but I just seem to be having trouble with the advanced sciences. They're way harder than biology and chemistry 🙁 . What should I do?
