They don't reject at this point. They either accept or tell you you're in this pool, which is a delayed rejection program.

I'm pretty sure it is a regular waitlist, actually... With a cool catch phrase like "acceptable applicant pool" or whatever it is.

Hey, I just finished spitting my soda out after I read your "e-penis" comment. My advice to you is the same as my advice to everybody else that's stressing out on here: Just chill. You're better off not worrying about it at this point, as everything is completely out of your control. I know the feeling sucks, at first, but once you get used to it, it's not so bad. If anything, all this waiting, etc has allowed me time to think of a Plan B, and I'm actually getting more and more excited about my Plan B as time goes on. Things will be OK no matter what happens, because you're obviously a very smart, capable person, so even if you don't get in anywhere (unlikely) you'll figure it out.

P.S. I am Ukranian by heritage, so good luck to someone else of former Soviet heritage.

Since it's obvious your application isnt the problem, maybe you should try to pinpoint what might have went wrong in the inerview so that you can fix it before your upcoming interviews. Also, see if you can do a mock interview where you can get instant feedback.

Yeah, the mock interview thing's a good advice piece. I had two, because I think that was a problem last year. Also, last year I had no clinical experience, so I got exposed. Hey, I'm half Ukrainian, too. To the poster above you, we're probably cousins.

Actually, acceptable pool isn't bad at all. It's just "we're not sure if we definitely want you, so we're just putting you on hold." When I interviewed there, the director of admissions said that only a small percentage of the final acceptances actually get accepted right away, and the rest go into the "acceptable pool" from which they will select about 50% for acceptances. So, it's not a deferred rejection necessarily. It's just no fun to wait.

I think their admissions committee met on October 16th, which is how some decisions have been made. Maybe their next one is around the 30th. At the interview, they said that decisions also depend on when the interviewers submit their evaluations, so maybe your interviewers were slower in getting their stuff in. And I can imagine the school telling applicants the latter date so as not to get all your hopes up and then having the office flooded with calls on the 17th b/c people hadn't heard anything that day. Nevertheless, speculation at best.
