Do private schools such as Columbia P&S really prefer instate students post-interview? I saw some stats online for various private top-tier schools saying that, post-interview, they give large preference to those who are not OOS.

Is this true?

Just curious while we wait for non-rolling schools.

Depends on the school. Some more than other. University Miami is a little bias towards instate, but I think that is because it isn't one of those "upper tier" schools and they know that florida residents are much more likley to go there. Other schools will have virtually no bias at all.......

I know University of Pennsylvania has a higher acceptance rate for in-state students. The majority of students are still out of state, however, the acceptance rate is definitely higher for those with Pennsylvania residency. I don't have the exact numbers in front of me but it is in the USNEWS book and also probably the MSAR.
