Anyone know where I can get information on acceptance rates on post-bacc programs? I am looking into them but want to know how competitive it is to get into them right now. I'd appreciate any info or stats. Thanks!

I dont think that they post those...but from my limited knowledge the pool of applicants vs the number of spots is similar to actual med school ratio. So I would say about 20-30% acceptance rate. Also, some of the prgrams are much more competitive than the others. G'town is number one, and Im sure most people would agree on that. Coincidentaly, I just spoke to people at Finch and they told me that most of their class is full, they only have 10 spots left and there is about 160 apps competing!!! Now that is scary. I think the bottom line is that you should apply to as many as you can, have your apps reviewed throughly and keep your fingers crossed. If you dont make it then enroll as a special student and do it on your own. I think as long as you improve your app each semester ( including summers) your chances of getting into medschool get better.
Hope that helps.

P.S. MCAT 😉

If you go to www.usnews.com and look for the medical school rankings ( research ) and get premium service, you get ALL that info, and it's good for 1 year!!

They give you stuff from how highly resident directors think of medical schools to how easy it is for in and out of state students to get in ( %, scores and overall counts . gpa etc ) and stuff to financial aid packages and what not.

That's the best source that I found on-line.

Whoops, I re-read your message and you were asking where those students go, I was more looking at regular admissions.

The only school I know that actually did that was American University and they're list was phenomenal. I've heard mixed thing from Penn and Columbia so I would seriously think before looking into those.

LOL one last message 🙂

BTW, I agree to a certain extent about competition for postbac roster slots. For example, Northwestern had about 100 applicants and 25 got in, that's not too shabby when you consider most med schools hit like 3-4% acceptance rates.

But as to your question, I think some schools like Columbia except about 90% and weed out as many as they can so only those who can really handle it survive. That's why there was no way I was going to a program like that. Med School is gonna be tough enough but that's after I have learned the basics. As a Psych major with minimal science classes ( I took more than most Psych majors but not like I was a biochem major or anything ) I don't want that weeding out for the fundamentals. Besides, I'm learning that this stuff ain't so fundamental afterall!! :luck:
