Hey guys. I apologize if this isn't the right forum for me to post this in. However, I wanted to get opinions from the MD students and not the premed population.

I'm accepted to med school (usmd) 🙂 and I'll have Spring term to take a class or two at my undergrad institution..

From my understanding the classes for lcme schools are generally the same.. So my question is, what classes did you take before your 1st year of medical school and/or which ones helped you out the most? Or, which ones do you wish you would have taken?

I want to make sure to ease the transition as much as I can going in.. I'm planning on taking/auditing biochemistry since I have not taken that course yet..

I want to keep the load minimal since I'll be getting things ready to leave for the fall.

Background
- Humanities Major (BA)
- Physiology TA (2 years)

Thoughts?

What do you have left to do that you need to do to graduate?

If you've taken all the courses you need to take don't take any more courses. Travel or work.

If you still have courses to go take the fewest, easiest courses you can.

Under no circumstances waste your time with biochem if you don't have to.

You're not going to be able to prepare for this, no matter how hard you try. Enjoy your life while you still have. Failing that, save money.

I don't think your decision to audit biochemistry is a bad idea per se. But chances are you won't learn/remember anything. On the flip side, there's no harm in seeing it without any pressure to perform. I personally wouldn't though.

If I had the chance to go back and change something, I probably would've taken a dance class 😛 Take something fun and interesting if you must. Otherwise I would suggest you follow through with your idea of an easy transition and enjoy your remaining days of college.

thanks for the reply.

i don't have any more classes needed to graduate.. i'll walk in the april commencement.

however, i actually delayed 'formal' graduation until August to help out a professor and work with him on some publications. i'll get paid by doing this, but apparently university policy is he can only hire me if i'm an undergrad or a grad student (private institution).. so i'll be on campus either way working with him.

Intro to Psych... was an easy course at my undergrad, and will make your behavioral science-type course a joke. Plus, some of the stuff is interesting.

I can't believe people are answering this. This is probably the most common question on this board. Search. fuction.

Then, yeah, don't take any classes. Or take a class in dance, or a language, or anything else you've always wanted to learn if you're feeling an urge. But nothing related to med school.
