Accepted, Fall 2011!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
does that mean the completed application or the esubmitted one? Mine had a difference of around a month 😕
I think they meant from the time it was forwarded to the department, so whenever you application was 100% complete. GRE scores, transcripts, LOR, can hold up the application, but I wouldn't worry! I'm sure they pick up steam towards the spring and will get to yours faster than 10 weeks 🙂

thanks for the reply ...🙂 *fingers crossed* I dont mind what time they get to it as long as they tell me about it ...🙁...I find it very nerve wracking to wait ...🙂

Just got a Fedex shipment notification that something is coming to be from Emory and RSPH, haha, I guess that means that 7 weeks after hearing my acceptance that they have mailed out the acceptance package!

Anyhoo, I know some people were still waiting on those from Emory, looks like they are coming out now.

Congrats all!!! no more updates on my end but I'm obsessively checking this forum and SOPHAS/email. My brain hurts.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I got my first rejection today. I thought I would be really upset, but I'm actually not because it was my last choice out of the schools I applied to. I am a little nervous that this trend might continue though.....

GPA: 3.34, recent undergrad
SOPHAS mailed: 12/8/10, but last LOR submitted 12/16/10

Hey guys, congrats to everyone on their acceptances! I submitted my whole applications to Yale on the 7th of November, 2010 and still haven't heard from them.

first choice was Epidemiology of microbial diseases and second choice was Epidemiology of chronic diseases. Does any one have any ideas?
I plan calling them tomorrow..

Secondly, I applied to JHU MPH program submitted my applications on 1st of Dec, its already past 40days (which is the average time for responses) still not heard anything yet.....😕

Please I need comments.

Thanks

Epi2013: Sorry to hear that... but it sounds like you have some great options already! I'm just wondering, did you receive your rejection from Yale via snail mail or email?

I got an email, but I'm guessing that they're probably going to send me a letter in the mail too just so I have documentation of it. 🙂

I hope you receive better news than I did!

Hi, thanks for your suggestion, I'll try.

You can call them between 9 -12 EST ...I had to do that too when they would not respond to repeated Email queries about my Toefl not having been waived
They waived it while I was on the phone itself...I think they reply quicker that way..

Well, got acceptance to Tulane around 6-7w after sophas mailed my application. To UT, around 3w after complete my application (sophas mailed at the same time with Tulane, but school officer asked me to complete a school's form that I forgot)

and sorry to bother again...but what date did your acceptance come on?was it in the 6 week period ilke everyone here

Hi, I know some people had already heard back from Yale's EMD program, but I also notice that Yale doesn't sent their letters all at once. Last year, some people got their acceptance later than others even though they submitted their applications around the same time.
Good luck!

Hi,

Got into Tulane for Epi on January 20th via e-mail.

E-submitted to SOPHAS 11/15
Verified/ Mailed 12/16

Good luck to everyone 🙂

hi remrocks1987, congrats👍 i got into Tulane MPH Epi too🙂.

Just to clarify, to which degrees did you apply at UMN? When were you complete and when were you notified of your acceptance at the U?

So, I've been hanging out on the gradcafe forum until someone posted a link to this one (I knew about it, but I haven't checked it months, so it reminded me). And now I've been obsessing over it for the past few hours.

Here are my stats:

GRE: 650V, 740Q, 5.5 AW
Undergrad GPA: 3.62 cumulative with degrees in International Relations, International Business, and German
Grad GPA: 3.78 MA in International Studies with a Global Health Certificate
Internship with the World Health Organization (3 months, researching epidemiological transitions in low and middle income countries).
Two RA positions (both health related- one gathering basic health indicator data, the other mortality/morbidity data and trends for NCDs).

Applied: UWash, Emory, JHU, BU, Harvard, Yale, UPitt, UCLA, Berkeley, UNC
Accepted: Still waiting, biting my nails here (received the we're reviewing your app email from several schools).
Rejected: none (yet...)
SOPHAS verified: 11/22
SOPHAS mailed: 12/08 for all SOPHAS schools except Emory (12/15 mailed)
UNC and JHU: 11/22 submitted

Glad I was reminded of this forum, now I can fuel my obsession some more. Though seeing acceptances and rejections is not really the best for my nerves! Oh well, 😀.

Just got an email from Yale- no go 🙁. Oh well.

So as of now:
Applied: UWash, Emory, JHU, BU, Harvard, Yale, UPitt, UCLA, Berkeley, UNC
Accepted: UPitt
Rejected: Yale

I'm not sure if being rejected in general is more upsetting or being rejected specifically from Yale. It wasn't in my top choices, so I'm going with rejection in general.

The Yale rejections are making me nervous. I feel like if I was going to be accepted I would have heard by now, and it is bugging me that I have not. This is one I am especially anxious about and that I haven't heard yet is making me nervous....

Thanks man! I can see streams of rejection from Yale on this thread! Anyway, we will wait and be optimistic. I got accepted to Emory, Global Health Department. I am sure by the end of next month I'll know definitively which school I am choosing. Emory is top on my list thought! lets keep our fingers crossed, all the best to you too!

You already got into Hopkins. Do not stress over YSPH. Is Harvard your first choice. You will be fine. Yale must be looking for certain types of students, not your typical successful public health candidate.

Just got an email from Yale today, rejected. 🙁

Hi Rampa,

Don't despair, you MUST have acceptancES. I also applied to Yale earlier than you did, but still haven't heard from them. I completed my application 7th Nov. Well, I don't know what to do, seems most people have heard from them. Please I am curious what department did you apply for? and did they give you reason for rejection?

Thanks

Any news on UT-Houston yet...anybody????the wait is really killing me......................... :scared::scared:😡

I applied to the MPH in Health Management program.
This is all that my decision letter stated, non-specific mostly.

"Your application for admission to the Master of Public Health program at Yale University has been reviewed. We regret to inform you that you were not accepted to our program.

Each applicant’s file is reviewed thoroughly and given careful and fair consideration before a decision is determined. We received a number of competitive applications for the class. However, the School of Public Health is very small and therefore admission to the program is extremely selective."

Good luck and I hope you hear back sooner rather than later.

Anyone get any news from Emory or BU recently? I'm hoping for a little pickmeup after that Yale rejection. BU told me last week that decisions would go out "soon"....whatever that means! 🙂

Has anyone heard from Columbia yet? Know when applicants should hearing from them?

I got into Michigan yesterday. It is my top choice other than Columbia.

Good luck all! Been checking the forum daily.

The Columbia website says we won't hear until after March 1st. It's a long wait, but at least I know I'll b waiting that long.

Any news on UT-Houston yet...anybody????the wait is really killing me......................... :scared::scared:😡

I was recently rejected by UT-H (on Sophas), as well as by Yale (e-mail).

Meh.

Is anyone else getting notifications from Columbia saying that your application is 'incomplete' even though EVERYTHING IS THERE?

I called the school and they said that there must be some weird glitch because they don't know why that's happening. I just want to know if anyone else is experiencing this same glitch...

The same thing is happening with my application for UT Health. Oh mah gawwwddd.

I also received an email rejection from yale this morning... sigh. Same letter format as the poster a few posts above

I got the same email and replied to it with a screenshot especially because my application is COMPLETE. Good thing it's only a glitch. Columbia was the only school I had issues with on receiving my documents.

Hi, I had same experience, I think its a glitch! I forwarded the email to the admissions director.

My Yale people has anyone gotten any acceptances yet from them? I haven't seen any acceptances on this thread yet. When I get my own email from them, I will certainly post it here.

Thanks oncoharv and RAMPA! Glad to see that it's not anything serious, phew.

I got the same email from Columbia while all the documents were sent.

I just got off the phone with Columbia and I was told that they're just sending mass emails to everyone, just in case. It was a glitch before and now it's just them trying to remind anyone who might have slipped through the cracks, I suppose.

Still, it's very annoying -_-

There have been a couple of Yale acceptances posted on this other thread:

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=767137&page=2

Good luck!

Based on their teleconference, Yale began sending out decision in December. Soooo...presumably, there hasn't been too much on SDN, but this will pick up. The lady I spoke to over the phone said that the majority of apps get reviewed in January and that they try to have apps reviewed w/ in 4 weeks. But I know, for some folks here, they had their apps submitted since Nov or even earlier and still haven't heard. Adcoms move notoriously slow, ain't too much you can do about it.

Stats:
GPA:
~3.0 (science major at a top undergrad that practiced severe grade deflation... It was rather unpleasant)
GRE: Decent
Work: Publications; 6 years years overall research experience (2 of which were in PH)

(Applied to "General" tracks or "Health Policy/Management" programs).

Accepted: Brown, BU, Dartmouth, Drexel, Emory, GW
Waitlisted: UCLA
Rejected: Northwestern, UC Berkeley (I accidentally submitted the wrong school's PS here...), U Michigan, and Yale.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL! 🙂

Should I be concerned that I didn't get the aforementioned email from Columbia? I made them change my status to complete on the deadline so it has said that for awhile now, but if they sent it to everyone and I didn't get it, that might be a problem.

I didn't receive it either. The email probably was an automatically generated email to those whose status was "incomplete." I'm not worried too much about it.

I didn't receive the email either, but I did call Columbia today to ask about my missing transcripts; the woman checked the system and said they had received everything (3 weeks ago), but the system wasn't updated yet. I wouldn't worry about it...
