I had about 3 cs my first few semesters. Schools want to know that you are capable of handling dental school course load. This means that if you have received some Cs (basic biologys, physics) then you better be able to prove to them that you can do well in other classes (upper division).

Upward trend👍

-Comparative Anatomy - class was ridiculously hard
-English Composition I - I was a stupid college freshman

When you say "science" do you mean any science or BCP?

If any science, my initial undergrad I had like... 4-5 thats (math / engineering courses)

0 C's ever (even on HS for the couple schools which require them).

It broke my heart when i got my first C in college. And then my classes were just so damn hard and competitive (evil grade deflation of berkeley!) and I got more. Luckily, I got straight A's in my upper div bio courses my last year so I'm HOPING schools will look at this upward trend as something good. I'm really freaking out about my GPA but I guess those classes are done already and I can't do anything about the C's. Just learn from them.

oops, I just realized this is a thread for accepted students. subtract one from the 4+ Cs. My bad, sorry

0. I would have bucked up my game if I did though! As long as you are upward #trending then you are good to go!

woops, i need to read these poll titles more carefully. I have 2 C+, but I'm not even accepted.. yet! 😳 LOL. Forgive me for screwing up your poll.😛

Engineering degree:
9 'A's
13 'B's
8 'C's
1 'D'
and three drops.

Biology degree:
25 'A's
1 'B'

I, and I'm sure other applicants, are a little more relieved from the poll results. Thanks everyone 🙂

hmm....do they use it to make admissions decisions?

I would suppose they want to make sure they aren't getting people that slacked during HS because they thought it wouldn't matter. But I don't think they weigh it too heavily.

i wonder how many of those people who voted for 4+ C's in college had to do a postbacc or some type of master's program

I would be willing to say a large majority of them. I don't know many people that got C's that got into dental school.

Ever since my horrendous 1st semester as a freshmen, I have banned myself from getting C's. So far so good --> just 1 C in the BCP category with 2 more years to go. Poll is very reassuring. 👍

you probably dont know that many people =\

Yeah, I'm very anti-social and only know 1 person going to dental school and that's myself...

You can believe the aforementioned statement if it makes you feel better.
