In all ya'll faces! Decided I wanted to go to dental school in September of last year. On a dare I decided to apply because all of my friends were saying how difficult it was to get accetpted. I took the DAT after studying for 1 1/2 weeks. I feel sorry for those who studied for months. I guess I just have what it takes...

How humble. What are the rest of ur stats like?

Wow, yeah, all of the "qualities" you could ask for in a dentist and more, anyway congrats, gives hope to the rest of the under 20 crowd!!!!

im calling BS on this one

Well if something sounds too good to be true, then what does that tell you. We'll never know what the deal is or the story behind this "acceptance." But after the 15 AA acceptance in Arizona, I guess the sky is the limit then. Kind of hard to believe because we all thought NYU was one of the easiest schools to get into until this cycle, as many qualified applicants are getting rejected & waitlisted so early in the game. Just like everything else on this board, I would take it with a grain of salt.

if it is true...congrats. humility isn't exactly a requirement of becoming a dentist, though a bit more tact would've been nice.

Anyone else notice, however, that you claim to have had a 17 AA, but your stats listed under your screenname are 25/24/26 or something like that? So which one was the lie?

Just more evidence of how stupid the UOP admissions policy is...

1st priority goes to: People who were waitlisted last year
2nd priority goes to: People from UOP undergrad
3rd priority goes to: People with family who attended UOP dental
4th priority goes to: The rest of the applicant pool

Shouldn't have wasted my 75 bux on them...

Get over it. Life isn't fair and neither are the admissions processes for almost any schools. I could hold a grudge against BU who didn't even bother contacting west coast students until it had reviewed all of the east coast students in this years admissions, but whining doesn't make life better for anyone.

I'm 4th priority on your arbitrary list and I got in on Dec. 1st to UOP. I know 3 other people who are going into UOP this year that are also "4th priority" and we all got in on dec. 1st. It isn't an impossibility.

Yeah, I noticed as well. So Pedro if your going to try and stir up the pot and lie, you might want to changed your profile signature before you do. Also, weren't you the one who tried to frustrate all the ASDOH hopefuls by saying that your friend got in to ASDOH with a 15 AA and 13 PAT. Sounds like you have a lucky group you run with.

This guy pedro is a real jerk. He was posting before how UF sucks and students are dropping out....which is a lie. He did this so people would turn them down. Now this? Flaunting how he got into UoP with a 17? Way to pull the minority card and wave it in everyones faces ....if you did indeed get in. I wouldnt be writting this whole message if he hadnt been a jerk before and lied to everyone on SDN about UF. Congrats on winning the "dare".

Have you posted this before? I know I've seen this list before on SDN. That is a stupid list. I got in and I'm "the rest of the applicant pool." So quit crying.

I don't really give a crap about UOP it was like my 4th choice. I'm just saying how stupid it's admissions process is. And Boston accepted me Dec. 1st and i'm west coast. SO i guess we are both exceptions to the rule....

You are no doubt an exceptional applicant. Congrats on getting in. And again i'm not crying about UOP cuz it was my 4th choice. I just wish I hadn't applied in the first place to save myself 75 bux. And no i didn't post this before, I read it before somewhere too.

SDN Moderator, I think Pedro needs to be put on probation.

I am nowhere on that list, I got accepted to UoP and I didn't even apply there!
J/k!!!

Congrats and good luck to the real-accepted UoP Dental students.

I'm not saying it is impossible to get in. But I know for a fact that people that were waitlisted last year and decided not to attend another institution to wait for UOP this year did get 1st priority. Now how many people do you think would wait? Probably like 10 max. And I know that 30-40 students of the UOP dental class are from the UOP undergraduate campus. That leaves many spots open to people. So yes if you are exceptional you will get in. Congrats to everyone who did!! 🙂

😴 Whatever.

i got in at upenn with an 18AA, so its not un heard off. collegboy is a tool for the record

Well, I'll be the first to admit that I do care about UOP and it was my top choice, so while I understand your frustration with their choice in admissions process, I hope you then understand why I get tired of UOP admissions process bashing since it is a school I like and respect and am now tied to.

I feel bad for UOP people who are gonna have this guy or girl in your class... I concur, collegeboy is a herb.

pedro sanchez, what a d-bag.

no one really believes this person, right? you aren't actually taking him serously, are you? i mean i have trouble believing anyone on this site about anything... there are a bunch of liars on this site, it's a freggin online forum open to EVERYONE and ANYONE who wants to post something.

"oh i got into harvard, columbia, UCLA, and UPenn where should i go? which one's better?"
"oh i got accepted with a 14 AA to 8 schools"
"i started a dental clinic in cambodia with my bare hands and i still got rejected"

lies, lies, lies. blow it out your asses.

and i'm not saying everyone lies on this site, but jeez, people... learn to tell the difference!

real classy brotha from anotha motha. a 17 will get you into a lot of schools. people on this site represent the very top tier of students with 20+ DAT's and 4.0 gpa's. if you look at most schools they avg dat is 18-19 which means they have to accept kids with lower stats if they accept kids with higher stats in order to get an avg.

1. i'll bet anything that every school ahs higher average DATs this year. those stats are old. a 17 won't get you into a lot of schools, and you would have to have an impressive overall application to be accepted anywhere with an average score like a 17.
2. i don't understand why everyone says SDN represents the "very top tier" of applicants. why is this necessarily true? please use an arguement other than the pedantic student/type-A personality who cares sooo much about getting into dental school that he actually made an account on the student doctor network. like i said, anyone who wants to can make an account and start posting.

other signs that pedro is BSing. he has less than 10 posts, created the OP and then hasn't said a word since, has 95+ percentile scores above his avatar and said he got in with a 17, said "he applied on a dare" in september, which is late, to one of the more selective schools that apparently weighs heavily the DAT... 😴

you'll be last in class ranking.

I studied for about 2-3 days before my DAT, not because I am smart I am just a big slacker. I bought the Kaplan Book about 4 weaks before and put off studying. The weak of I felt guilty and started looking over the stuff. I am not proud because I feel like if I studied harder I could have totally rocked it. Oh well I got into my first choice. 19 19 21 19 19 20
I actualy feel guilty when I talk to others who really put alot of work into it, like I am not serious about getting in. I am I just have a very busy life.

this is a stupid thread and the OP is lying.

im calling BS on this one

No, actually he's telling the truth. He totally got into UoP. Of course, in his haste to prove his superiority over his predent buddies he signed up before realizing that University of Phoenix was not the UoP everyone was raving about. For future reference, the short name is now "Pacific."

It's not even necessarily true, it's just viral information. Someone on SDN post something, however random or untrue it is and the forum grabs hold of these "memes" about how dental schools are (e.g. "Columbia is bad for clinical dentistry", "You can't specialize coming from UoP", "Didn't get into to Pacific, must be because your dad didn't go there") and they run with them without really knowing anything about the schools.

For the record I don't know anyone who went to Pacific, nor did I go there myself.

pedro "dirty" sanchez is a troll..... please let this thread die (or mods, please close)..jb!🙂

Hey jack,
Your dad was the one who killed your brother! He didn't have a siezure at all! Just letting you know for future reference...

Yeah and I am very disappointed in him. Money before country...sad👎

I sense an impending "CLOSED" coming from the moderators....better get what you have to say in now before it's too late.

This thread was ******ed to begin with anyways. In my opinion, this dude came in here to try and stir up some minority/affirmative action bickering. Hence the hispanic name. I don't think anyone really fell for it though, I mean do you really believe some guy who says he applied just for the hell of it? The application sucks, the fees are high, the personal statement is hell to write, as well as getting lor's.
You, my friend (pedro) are a disgrace to all humble minorities who work their tails off to get into any professional school.

They let in people who will do well at Pacific. Some come every year from the previous yrs waitlist, some have connections (but they still expect good numbers--it has been rumored Dugoni's granddaughter may have had to improve DAT to get in) and lots just stand out for other reasons. You can't blame them for letting in people they know--look at the tools who are on this site. If you knew someone was a great guy b/c of his time at your school, and his kid was applying, wouldn't it tip the scale a little in his favor as opposed to the guy who might be a putz but have great scores.

I think the OP is telling the truth, when I went to my PENN interview in early november two of the interviewees had a 17 AA. This just goes to show that the overall application matters and some schools look at the person as a whole, now whether or not they have been accepted is another question, but having an interview that early in the cycle with those DAT scores is a still a good sign. It's DEF not out of the question to get accepted anywhere except maybe harvard with a 17AA. Just my 2 cents

I had some weird girl with a 16AA at an interview---with a 4.0. weird,weird,weird.

That is freaky, I couldn't imagine how in the world.

I can understand 3.0 and 23's maybe cause your a slacker, but that is strange.

The thing that makes me seriously doubt the veracity of this guys claims is he claimed to get into UoP even though he applied in September (or later).

Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy late for UoP

Yeah man, I agree with you 250%, I consider myself lucky to even be on TWO waiting lists this cycle, given the competitiveness, you really should count your blessings dude, do you know how many other minorities would love to be in that position and would be very thankful just to get accepted into one school, oh the horror of this waiting list, back to banging my head against the wall, figuring out what exactly do these schools want.

I actually met someone at an interview with a 17AA who interviewed at harvard  . She interviewed there early too (oct).

It's the overall package that matters, I guess.

To OP: however I still wouldn't buy it in your case. :meanie:

It's quite possible he is telling the truth. While I was interviewing at Indiana, there was this guy who told me he got a 17AA, so he didn't bother sending in the secondary fee to UoP. A month later he got a call from UoP asking whether he was still going to apply to UoP. They scheduled an interview with him, without him even sending the secondary fee. He was Hispanic. Serioulsy, schools do some big time recruiting for under represented minorities.

Another example of recruiting for minoroties that this same kid experienced while at Indiana. Indiana's director for minority affairs took the same guy to the side and told him everything he should expect in the interview and what to emphasize so that he will do well in the interview (whether it was a point of interest for him or not). I didn't get the same pep talk before my interview.

Dirty Sanchez is a joke. I am just hoping that I don't have to deal with him while at UoP. He will have 0 friends and a whole lot of enemies if this is the way he carries himself.
