i applied the first day apps came out...they got back to me the first week of october and they somehow fit me in for an interview later that week....and i just heard back...Thank God no more worrying...i hope everyone's process is as smooth as mine...honestly TUSPM's admissions office are the most competant people that I've dealt with out of any of the schools...they are doing an awesome job over there....i was really blown away by their clinic as well...it was extremely impressive...

What were your stats like Podden? 🙂

i had a 3.3 but i took the DAT and had an AA of 19....i dont know if you took the DAT but i hope that helps...i also had what i felt was a pretty good interview....if anyone has anymore questions please feel free to ask or pm me...id be more than happy to help....

Congrats podden!

I've been accepted to TUSPM and NYCPM so far. Hopefully I hear from DMU and Scholl sometime next week or the week after so I can decide where I'll be going next year.

When did you interview at Scholl? I thought the first round of interviews were starting October 22nd...

studywithfury,

I interviewed yesterday. In my email from Scholl the first possible interview date was Oct. 8 so I think I'm the second group to interview.

Just curious, what made you think the first interview date was Oct. 22?

janV88

Oh in my interview invite e-mail from Scholl they only offered dates for Oct. 22, 29 and Nov. 5, 6, 12, and 19

How was the panel interview? Did they really ask you specific things from your application?

studywithfury,

The panel interview asked questions specifically from my app. I was not asked any moral or personality type questions.

Good luck on your interview!

Temple still takes the dental test? Looks like they are really helping out make Resolution 2015 a reality 😴

not to start an MCAT and DAT war because that is definitely the point of this....but from my experience....a 19...which is above 80th percentile on the DAT is much reputable than a below national average of 21 (which is the average MCAT score to get in to a pod school)...so in my opinion a 19 on the DAT is in every way better than a below average MCAT score....but i understand from the point of view of the goal of 2015...thats one thing...but NYCPM and Barry-(not saying much there) also take it...as do some of the other schools (even if they do not admit it on their websites)...with a high enough DAT score...one can get looks from various schools that you wouldn't think would accept DAT....i am speaking on this matter in such a manner because I pretty much called everywhere and asked....its not something they favor...but its still something they consider

a 19...which is above 80th percentile on the DAT is much reputable than a below national average of 21 (which is the average MCAT score to get in to a pod school)...so in my opinion a 19 on the DAT is in every way better than a below average MCAT score

Because the two tests are so different in format and content, it would be very difficult to compare a DAT score with an MCAT score and draw any meaningful conclusions.

Simply put, an 80th percentile score on the DAT does not indicate that the same student would score in the 80th percentile on the MCAT. For all we know, a 19 on the DAT directly correlates to a 21 on the MCAT.

Just my opinion. Why the DAT is accepted at all is weird.

I totally agree with this one. If Pod schools and the profession so desperately want to be on the same level of MD/DO schools then the MCAT should be the only exam they allow.

The MCAT is the King of all pre-health professional standardized tests...it doesn't get any harder then that.

In the 2009-2010 cycle we can see which schools are progressive and which schools just want warm bodies to fill seats (ie want money). There's no need for a podiatry applicants to take a DENTAL test in this day and age. The schools don't even look at the PAT section I was told. So it's like accepting a half-assed Dental exam if one can just focus on sciences/math and breeze through the most difficult part.

Again, some schools are working towards a common goal and some just want cash. More schools like iowa, north chicago, arizona, and western would be great for the profession. Some of the others...not so much.

Are we sure NYCPM still takes the DAT? I thought that ended last year. Does anyone know why they initially started taking the DAT? I think I have some questions for the admissions office come Monday.

I read the website and it says in certain situations they take it. Schools need to man up and say MCAT ONLY (no exceptions). I think Temple and Barry take the DAT in all situations, don't care either way. Again, shows a bit about the school and its wanting to fill seats with warm bodies.

Pod schools had a huge drop in numbers in the late 90's/early 00's , so they started taking all these tests to get more students. Recently, the majority of schools stopped taking the DAT, GRE, etc and switched just to MCAT. Good move and if we want Resolution 2015 to happen, it's a must. "Yea I'm the legal equivalent to an MD/DO but I took a dental test to get accepted to pod school...also didn't even have to study for the PAT!" 😴

Just got off the phone with Gina...accepted at DMU!! 😀

Is this gonna be the official I got accepted thread? It seems like we are getting a little sidetracked talking about the DAT and what not.

For those of you lucky enough to have interviewed and have heard back already this year, about how long did it take to find out the results of your interview? I hear the standard time frame is a couple of weeks.

I also heard back in just under a week...you will not however receive acceptance through the mail until at least 2 weeks...for Temple I know they have admissions committee meetings weekly so I would say that is pretty much te standard time there..
