Access to GRE?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Probably zero. IIRC, somewhere on one of the applications (I filled them out almost 3 years ago, so I don't remember -- sorry) it asked for GRE scores, if you had them. However, I never had to have my official scores sent out or anything like that.

So, I wouldn't lie about them, but they are unlikely to have any impact on your admissions decision.

How does taking the GRE affect your admission chance for med school? How will adcom find out?
AMCAS has a section to report other entering grad/professional school exams, so you should report your GRE scores unless you're explicitly told that reporting them is optional. (I can't remember for sure about this either, but I think it's required, because I definitely reported mine.) Like Sol said, no official transcripts are required from the ETS. However, the med schools will have your GRE scores anyway when they get your grad school transcripts, so you might as well avoid any appearance of hiding something and self-report. The scores won't really make any difference anyway; I can't think of a time when we have ever even discussed an applicant's GRE scores, let alone used them in an admissions decision. 🙂

Well,
I'm not in any grad school right now nor do I plan to be in one in the future. I scored extremely low. Just afraid adcom will look at the low gre score and associate that with my future performance in med school. Thanks everyone for your input.

I didn't report my GRE score when I filled it out. I couldn't see how it could possibly be relevant as I wasn't applying to any dual/combined programs. Here is what the help menu has for the "other tests" section of AMCAS:
Other Tests

Applicants who wish to include in their application non-MCAT test scores may do so by clicking the Yes button on the Other Tests screen. Examples of other tests are the GMAT, LSAT, or GRE. When adding tests, you may enter one test with the total score or enter separate tests for the individual section scores.

It uses the phrase wish to include, which indicates to me that it's not mandatory. Probably couldn't hurt if you did well though.

Well, OP, since it's optional to report the score, you didn't score very well, and you never went to grad school anyway, I can't come up with much of a good reason to include it. 🙂
