Hello Everyone!

For those of you who have personal experience with ACL surgery or for any orthopedic surgeons out there id greatly appreciate your help.

My boyfriend tore his ACL and is trying to decide between an allograft or an autograft. The surgeon hes seeing gave him the choice of what to do. My boyfriend is 29 years old and is a skiier and plays soccer and would like to continue to do so. What is the best option in terms of healing time and long term success?

Thank you very much!

I had ACL reconstruction in March of 07, I decided to receive the allograft and have no regrets regarding that decision. Healing time was quick and relatively easy compared to the autograft. I tore it skiing in Jan 07 and in Nov 08 I was back out skiing. Make sure you follow through completely with physical therapy, even when it feelings like your making no progress, in the end you'll be happy with it.
