Right now, I’m favoring ACOM as I’m a FL resident and it's closest to home with rotation sites for M3 and 4 in FL. I would like to stay in FL after I finish school, so I'm not sure if rotations in FL during med school will also help me get a residency here. I just wanted a second opinion and more advice regarding this decision. Also which school will best help me to get into a more competitive specialty?
WVSOM:
Pros:
ACOM
Pros:
WVSOM:
Pros:
- More established, founded 1974
- 100% match rate
- Beautiful campus and surrounding area
- 1 week off between blocks for a break or to retake exams
- Very supportive of students
- VERY rural
- Required rotations in West Virginia for a year
ACOM
Pros:
- 99% match rate
- has affiliated rotations in Florida
- Also seems supportive of students
- 9 hours away from home (closest of the schools I’ve applied to)
- 1.5 hrs away from the beach
- Newer school, opened 2013
- Dothan doesn’t seem very appealing, but it is close to major FL cities
