ACOM v WVSOM

Right now, I’m favoring ACOM as I’m a FL resident and it's closest to home with rotation sites for M3 and 4 in FL. I would like to stay in FL after I finish school, so I'm not sure if rotations in FL during med school will also help me get a residency here. I just wanted a second opinion and more advice regarding this decision. Also which school will best help me to get into a more competitive specialty?

WVSOM:

Pros:

• More established, founded 1974
• 100% match rate
• Beautiful campus and surrounding area
• 1 week off between blocks for a break or to retake exams
• Very supportive of students

Cons:

• VERY rural
• Required rotations in West Virginia for a year

ACOM

Pros:

• 99% match rate
• has affiliated rotations in Florida
• Also seems supportive of students
• 9 hours away from home (closest of the schools I’ve applied to)
• 1.5 hrs away from the beach

Cons:

• Newer school, opened 2013
• Dothan doesn’t seem very appealing, but it is close to major FL cities
