hi, i have heard that there is a quick kit used in out patient basis for acquiring vitreous for diabetic retinopathy.

my professor told me that it was advertised a lot in Ophthalmology journal few years back.

he said with a click, there will be a needle punched into the patients eye and acquire samples for genetic testing or something.

basically, my purpose is to acquire vitreous without vitrectomy surgery in an outpatient basis.

thank you.

This may be what you're talking about:

Of course, you can always take a small vitreous sample with a 27 G syringe.

Met Dr. Kock at ARVO this year, this instrument is pretty sweet. One of my attendings uses it for endophthalmitis tap and inject as well as viteous biopsies in the office. Not sure how much it costs though.
