I have just gotten my 3rd slor. Have 2 other LORs from non EM people that I sent out with my 2 SLORs to all my programs. Trouble is, the third slor is best from a very well known PD and I need everything I can get (subpar boards) is there anyway I can send this to programs. I figure since it is a slor and would only take a committee about 30seconds to review it over, it wouldn't be too much of a nuisance. Is there anyway I can send this to programs outside of ERAS or through ERAS? If I have to go outside of ERAS I'd probably only contact the programs I am most interested in/programs I think I need all the help I can get to get an interview. Thanks folks.

I had a similar issue. Programs might not want to see an extra letter as they already have a ton of stuff to review.
I remember hearing about some trick in ERAS where you can add an extra letter.

I'm having my school email the letter directly to the PDs, but only at places where I am interviewing.

As long as it's a good letter, I really don't see a downside in sending an extra letter...so what if a program 'may not want it'? Would a program really throw out someone's application, or not rank/rank them lower because of an extra SLOR that said good things about the applicant?

I would not send the letter directly to the programs. As a chief and one who is reviewing SLORs, it would seem very strange to get a SLOR to the office and I'm not sure I would take the letter seriously or believe it was original. If anything, I'd submit it on ERAS. It is not going to hurt you - could only help. Just a thought.
