Can you add more schools to your AACOMAS app after initial submission? I know for AMCAS you can submit to a throwaway school and then add more schools once you have your MCAT score. Can I also do this for AACOMAS?

Canadian here, bit confused about the "throwaway" school.

Are you likely not going to get an interview/put in a separate pile for that school since you don't have your MCAT scores in yet? Or is it to make sure you don't pay application fees for competitive schools in case your MCAT doesn't go too well.

For the second reason, and more. First, yes-- I don't want to waste my money applying to a bunch of schools, only to find out I got a crappy MCAT score and don't really stand a chance at any of them. Second, it is advisable not to become a re-applicant at a school. So this way, if I do terrible on the MCAT and decide to take a gap year, I don't become a reapplicant! This way, I submit to a throwaway school in order to get my application verified. Then, when my MCAT scores are out, I won't have to wait the ~ 5-6 weeks that verification takes, and my app will be ready to submit to schools!
