What are some other practice materials representative of the AAMC verbal reasoning passages and Q+A's that you have utilized?

What other passages and questions have you used other than EK 101 that you have found either useful, or representative of AAMC materials (or both)?

Do you have opinions or comments on: the Gold Standard VR package for $150? How does TPR's VR Workbook compare? TBR CBT's? I realize VR has been discussed ad nauseum on this forum as well as other premed forums, as has: Practise! Practise! Practise!. But, are there comparatively more effective materials to use aside from reading articles found in The Economist? I like having the feedback found in practice tests and practice passages that give answers and explanations. So, if you have come across some useful sample passages with questions and don't mind posting the source, please share, or direct on where to search.

Goodluck to all those approaching finals and final assignments.

I just ordered the TBR verbal book, I have read on here tat some of their questions and explanations are require you to make quite a stretch on reasoning. Curious to see what others who have used the prep think about this.

Do your own

You've obviously not even attempted to look around. This question is answered constantly.

You are wrong. The question is very specific and has not been answered, and further has not been answered [repeatedly, was that the word you were looking for and not "constantly"?]. How about you do a search and prove me wrong?

No, the word I wanted was constantly. As in, there is a constant flow of questions on this topic with answers following.

constant [ˈkɒnstənt]adj1. fixed and invariable; unchanging
2. continual or continuous; incessant constant interruptions
3. resolute in mind, purpose, or affection; loyal

n

And the question was not at all specific beyond what you can find on your own. If you'd asked something new or even something I had not answered in the last 30 days, I would have given you a more complete response but if you want to go into medicine, doing your own research is an absolutely critical skill to learn.

Constantly is still used in the wrong context. It should be 'repeatedly.'

Going into medicine requires being good at time management, i.e. not bother wasting time searching through irrelevant posts that don't answer the question.

Wasting time searching nonrelevant threads is inefficient and is not conducive to going into medicine.

Now if you have nothing worthwhile to contribute, gtfo of my thread.

First off...no, it's not. You should probably take an English class to help your verbal, because no MCAT prep is going to be enough.

So what you're saying is that the rest of us should do your homework for you?

Ok, then you should do exactly what you are doing. Also, you could get all kinds of verbal practice from:

http://www.amazon.com/MCAT-Verbal-R...2108/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1300323291&sr=8-3

http://www.amazon.com/Kaplan-Verbal...8761/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1300323291&sr=8-4

http://www.amazon.com/MCAT-Practice...2116/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1300323291&sr=8-6

So regardless...good luck. Hopefully, some day you'll grow up.

Now if the OP did his own homework on occasion, he'd know what to actually get, but....lol...

Honestly I'm going through the same issue as yourself and it really sucks I have exhausted EK and now a days I'm reading the Economist which is pretty descent. However, I don't know if the Economist will give you any significant improvement I have not seen any myself. My plan is to start AAMC practice exams EARLY like 1 per week and start getting used to their verbal passages and the type of questions they ask. I think after doing all the practice MCATs for AAMC you will grow an intuition for the questions and a strategy. In my opinion you should FOCUS solely on the AAMC practice exams because those are the types of questions you will ACTUALLY see. I tried using other material other than EK and it made me worse 🙁 I think it's because every company/ book has a different style of questions/ passages. Your best bet is to stay close to the real deal and start to build that intuition (AAMC practice exams). If you need anymore help please let me know and I wish you the best of luck! 👍

tpr's supposed to be good. Then try tbr. btw, I would use constantly for that sentence. I'm assuming you're canadian since you used "practise".
