I have been a member of these forums for quite some time and know it is not a place to ask for medical advice but I haven't been able to find much research on this, and my cardiologoist hasn't been much help either.
I take 25 mg of Toprol XL to control SVT (undetermined trigger, does not appear to be exercise induced since I passed a series of stress test without any episodes) with no other cardiac conditions, and I was wondering if I should adjust my target heart rate for aerobic exercise because of my medication, or I should just use a standard calculation of optimal heart rate for someone my age with regard to aerobic exercise? My normal heart rate w/o the beta blocker is around 89, with the beta blockers it's about 54.
Any links to reputable website or information is appreciated. Thanks.
